Mountains can now be worked by cities once they have a yield. They don't start with one, but a small number of buildings can improve them.

  • Palace now provides +1 Culture for Mountains. Stagnate your capital for an early policy at the start or just enjoy the small benefit later on, but only if you started near a mountain.
  • Stone Works can now be built in any city. It adds +2 Production to Mountains.
  • Aqueduct adds 1 Food to Mountains. Mountains needed a food yield building, and this makes sense because aqueducts bring water downhill to help with irrigation.
  • Observatory adds 1 Science to mountains, and can now be built up to 2 tiles away from a Mountain.
  • Machu Pichu adds 2 Faith to mountains, but has lost the 2 Faith on the building itself. If you've got more than one mountain near the city, this will be a net improvement.

The culture bonus is only done in the capital in order to keep its potential low and thus fair. Very early in the game, mountains become decent panels. Their potential is intentionally kept low, but they're no longer a hindrance when settling.

Along with my own work, this also uses some work from Pepyslav the Brave/LastSword[forums.civfanatics.com]. I also used an edited section of Lua code that was originally written by WHoward[www.picknmixmods.com].

Nevermind! Got it to work finally! Stoneworks and Aqueducts don't seem to do what they're supposed to but thppth who cares. I'll figure out how to fix that later.

I'm finding that I can't get this mod to work. I've subscribed/unsubscribed, moved the folder for the mod around, and enabled/disabled it several times, and yet I can't seem to get it to hook in. In one game I actually managed to make the game act as if there werent any mountains where there clearly were some (they still acted like mountains; virtually impassable and such) but the game tiles would not read as if they were mountains, only what tiles would be under the mountains, like Grassland or Plains. Now though, I've gotten it to stop doing that, but I still can't get it to actually make the mountains workable.
I do have a mod that already makes Stone Works available to every city, but I don't think that alone would make the mod unusable (though it would probably overwrite the effect?) If you have any idea of how I could fix this, I'd really appreciate this. Mountains are godlike if you know how to exploit them, and I wanna exploit them to the fullest!

I think it woud be good when you add options to climb mountains and make buildings on them...but a good addon!

i like this mod! mountains come alive before my very eyes. no more Lonely Mountain but instead mountains galore producing culture and science and etc ... Nice. Believable. Fitting for this game. Mod worthy of commendation.

Thank you for this mod, it is absolutely brilliant together with the water improvements mod.
More realistic too. It is silly how some of the most bountiful areas on the planet (mountains for minerals and metals, as well as the sea for fishing) is not properly represented in the game without mods.

I spoke to the author of the other mod and he asked me to delete the tourism folder in order to make your mods compatible, I tried, and it doesnt worked so I might have another conflict with another mod lol or the step he told me wasnt a good one, I don't know...

It would absolutely be that mod. There's not actually a way to add yields to mountain tiles, so all mods that do so run a LUA script that puts a fake feature onto every tile with a mountain on it, then we make the buildings add to that feature's yield.

This means, however, that any other mods will be trying to use their own fake feature. So things will, unfortunately, not work together well.

Hi I can make stoneworks in all towns but the mountains never upgraded I clearly have a mod conflict. Do you think it is the mod "more buildings" ? link : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=122386634&searchtext=public+baths

Tourist Office: +2 tourism (gold in G+K), +4 gold on natural wonders and mountains, +2 on atolls and oases

Could you verify if it is that mod and do something about it ? (I'll go ask the same to the other author).

I plan to at some point. As of right now, the game just came out and I'd like to play it without mods for a bit, so I couldn't say when I'd do that.
