Greenlit?! Aye! Have at thee!!
In the top 30! New boxart, alpha 4.5 released!
Release date: Fourth Quarter 2014
Savage: The Shard of Gosen is a 2D action/platforming adventure with a few RPG elements which takes place in the brutal world of Lor, a fantasy setting of my own creation. The mood and atmosphere are inspired by the Conan stories by Robert E. Howard, the Milton Bradley board game Hero Quest, and the Dungeons and Dragons setting, Dark Sun. Not to mention a healthy (unhealthy?) dose of my fetish for '80s barbarian flicks.

The game features include a compelling combat system, item and skill progression, an open world to explore, and procedurally generated overworld encounters, just to name a few.

Savage: The Shard of Gosen is heavily inspired by games like Super Mario Bros. 2 (US), Zelda 2, the Gargoyle's Quest series, and the Castlevania series.

btw just tested 4.5 and item drops work! Woohoo! I can enjoy it once again.

I bought this in a bundle on Groupees a while back. It wasn't till today I finally gave it a shot. Holy crap this is so fun to play. I've only played Alpha4 (not 4.5) and in that version I could not drop any items from my inventory. It would fill up and then I'm stuck with those items. So if that's fixed I will get back to playing this. Definitely look forward to adding it to my library on Steam. Highly recommended.

@Tobor Prime, awesome man. I cannot wait to see some brand spanking new content. Keep up the good work.

@TraCerMaN - Yeah, I keep doing them every now and then, though not very often these days (sorry about that!). It depends on what I'm working on and what I feel comfortable showing. I've got a lot of content coming up, though, that I'm sure I'll be streaming!

Any streams happening soon Matt? It's been a while :P, on the second hand I've also been working like a horse so maybe I miss them all the time.

@Trom - Oh wow, that's something that used to happen frequently before I moved over to Game Maker: Studio from GM 8.1. I seem to remember having to restart the PC for that annoying bit to go away. Sorry about that! I will look more into this issue and see if I can't nuke it for good!

Thanks for the support, Trom, and for bringing that issue to my attention! :)

Still super excited about the game. I did have a question hopefully someone on here can help me with. I played the 4.5 alpha fine a few weeks back. Today I tried to play it again and for some reason my xbox controller won't respond while playing, and the game runs at 14 fps.

Frame rates and xbox controller work fine on other games. I'm sure it will be fine in the final release, I was just itching to mess around with the game again :)
