Description
Release date: August 1st, 2014
Eidolon is a narrative exploration game set in a massive, post-human Western Washington.

Eidolon features a survival system (cold, hunger, exhaustion, age, wounds, illness) and some simple tools (bow, rod, campfire), but it is primarily a game about exploring a mysterious landscape and uncovering the stories of the people who came before. These stories, told through documents and memories gleaned from significant locations, are both historical (describing the broad arc of civilization) and intimate (describing the struggles and lives of specific characters and families). But piecing them together, making sense of them, is a challenge. The world of Eidolon is vast, rich, and difficult to traverse.

On a more personal level, Eidolon is a game wrestling with themes dear to us—history, curiosity, interconnectedness, nature, chaos, mortality, and the pure beauty of the world, to name some. We are firmly rooted in Western Washington, where Eidolon is set, most of us having been raised here. In many ways, Eidolon is an attempt to convey some of the magic of this dark, mystical, foggy, cold, and genuinely breathtaking place. We hope that this comes through in the game.

It all depends on the reception. If there's a large fan response (so that it's financially something we could consider) and a desire for it, then absolutely. We're especially interested in continuing to develop the written world, given the opportunity.

Thanks for replying! Will there be any post release-updates or expansions? or is it too early to even think about stuff like that? The addition of fauna would make a nice sense of a living breathing world, though i am not sure how i would encounter a bear without it trying to eat me.

Hi guys! Thanks for all the kind comments, and sorry for the lack of response!

KingGraham: Thank you so much! We're probably not going to do anything special for the pre-order folks (other than the low early price) just because we want to spend absolutely as much time as possible making the game ready for release. We'll get you that soundtrack, though :)

xShadowsaur: There's not much more to know than is in the trailer. It's mostly exploration and discovery, on a massive landscape. There likely won't be building, crafting, or enemies. There will be more diverse fauna, but we're not sure what. Likely packs of dogs (if we can get them functional by release) and some variations on the predators (like bears) and prey (like deer).

While this game looks interesting, I don't really feel as if I know much about it. Don't worry, you guys have my thumbs up, but I can't begin to imagine the gameplay aside from wandering and and possibly hunting. Will there be building (aside from fireplaces)? Will there be crafting? Will there be enemies? What type of fauna will there be? Will there be things to interact with that are neither fauna nor flora (aside from collecting what appears to be notes)?
Ah well, you guys have my interest either way.

Went ahead and pre-ordered. Looks magnificent. Hoping for a soundtrack! Anything to hold us pre-orderers over until the release? :)

Thank you! Can't wait. Will pick it up. Is a soundtrack available? If not yet, can I suggest keeping sound of rain, birds, water in background for more ambiance? This looks beautiful. From the NW myself - west of Seattle. Thanks for making this!
