Weekly Dev Update – May 20th, 2016
Astrobase Command is a sandbox base-building RPG in a low-tech science fiction universe. Explore the stars with the computing power of the Atari Age!

Inspired by the science fiction movies and television shows of the '70s and '80s, its focus is on the bonds the player will develop with the characters rather than the advanced technology they use. Build 3D starbases, explore exotic new worlds, and wage battles in space or on planetary surfaces.

Everything is tied together by an advanced AI Storyteller that is like having a living, breathing Dungeon Master crafting a unique game experience for the player every time the game is played, offering endless replayability.

This is the game we wish we could have played when we were kids.

@Bauhaus Thanks for the feedback. We're trying to find the right retro scifi cool feel for the weapons. The ones in the game won't necessarily look like the ones in the video.

We are aware of the importance of grounding at least some aspects of our design in reality, if games only used what works in reality as the basis for their designs, the gaming world would never have ended up with guns with chainsaws strapped to them. ;)

@TENGILL No word yet. Release date remains super duper above top secret.

So I pop in to take a look at development progress, and the first thing I see is the modular projectile video with those ridiculous long magazines blocking the weapon's grip. If it hasn't been done already, please turn those suckers around. You don't have to be a gun nut to understand why that's just an awful idea.

P.S. It makes no sense to have curved magazines on every single futuristic gun to begin with, seeing as this is only done for physical shells with tapered casings.

So any word on a time frame?
Pretty please with vodka on top!?

This game looks incredible, and it also seems to have a good level of depth in regards to the user interface and the actual gameplay. I can't wait to see it further develop and give it a try... the user interface reminds me slightly of Star Wars Rebellion (Supremacy) with it's "Command Ship" view of the galaxy and interactable droid advisors, brilliant.

Thanks, Nanny!

Everytime I search for this game, some other crappy, xy-level only space building game comes up. Real space stations/bases aren't meant to be flat. incorporating z levels should be the future of every base building simulation in the future.

Like Astrobase Command. Good job.
