How to: Defeat Deathstroke
By Gildarts
Guide to defeating Slade Wilson A.K.A. Deathstroke. Batman: Arkham Origins.
Slade is one of those bosses that you really have to be ready for otherwise he will beat you down until you simply give up on trying to defeat him. Deathstroke does have his flaws, like all bosses do. He is repetative, easy to counter, and a fun challenge to batman's skills. Deathstroke should be very fun to fight against and, with my guide, easy to defeat.
Deathstroke's Abilities & Attacks
Deathstroke is an experimental super soldier, basically all his attributes are enhanced. Such as his speed, agility, strength, and other things of that manner. This fight should be fairly easy if you just follow what the game tells you.

Deathstroke's attacks:
  • Easy-to-counter moves that he often attacks with early on.
  • Smoke pellet as a distraction; attack from above with stun followed by multiple fast flowing attacks.
  • Remote claw attached to tank of gas (which if it hits you explodes) very easy to counter. Just counter it when it prompts you to.
  • Often does a sing, double, or even triple move (due to batman breaking his staff and slade switching to a sword) that can be easily countered when prompted. Patience is key. Do not button mash the counter key, it will not work. Hit counter when it correctly prompts you to.
  • After you counter the tank of gas Deathstroke will use his ballsitic staff to fire shots at you at a distance, use batarangs or the batclaw to stop these attacks, and get in close.
Defeating Deathstroke
Keys to remember:

  • Remember to USE YOUR GADGETS they are very helpful through out the fight.
  • Deathstrokes abilities and moves are all very easy to counter. The game will simply prompt you to do so when it is called for.
  • Be PATIENT, FOCUSED, and ENJOY the challenge!

How the fight plays out:

  • First during a cutscene deathstroke will grapple you into an arena, this is where you will fight.
  • He will then start striking you only very moderately, but remember he will have moves to counter so use those openings and counter him to knock his health down.
  • At every 25% or so loss of Deathstroke's health he will grapple a tank of gas at you that can be easily countered and thrown back at him. During which he uses his ballistic staff to fire shots at you. Use batarangs or the batclaw to stop those shots and get in close to restart the cycle. Rinse and repeat.
  • Throughout the fight Deathstroke will often throw a smoke pellet on the ground and attack from above and follow that up with multiple attacks of his "ultimate" (more or less) which should be easy to counter, just spam the counter button, then use the beatdown move to decrease his health even further!
  • Also throughout the fight Deathstroke will have various moves that will include you having to counter him more than once to stop these atttacks from landing, due to the fact batman breaks his staff and slade switches to a sword. It could be a single, double, or even triple move that you will need to counter. But these aren't your average spam counter button to counter moves, you have to wait until the game prompts you to counter the move. Just be patient. As you fight him, you'll learn how to do it in order to defeat slade.
Hopefully what this guide has done was help you gain the knowledge you'll need during your encounter with Deathstroke. The fight should be fairly challenging enough on normal, and even more so on New Game Plus, but very enjoyable as well. Hopefully this guide had helped you the way i hope it would.
Awesome picture of Deathstroke. Definitely one of my favorites.

This is the worst boss I've ever seen in a game.

The game doesn't promt all the counters, that's why I still fail to defeat him. Or I just don't upgrade my batsuit to the possible max.

By the way I agree Deathstroke is too cool he sort of makes us root for him. He deserves a game on his own.

I believe the whole point with Deathstroke is to realise what the designers were thinking when they made this fight. I thought it was very frustrating initially, but when I realised what I was supposed to do it became quite easy, actually.

Making this as short as I can, when you enter a choreographed fight (those sort of cinematic-like fights you seem not to have any control) you need to simply stop pushing your buttons and wait until the slow motion. That is when you are supposed to counter. There will be more than one slow-motion and all you have to do is watch them. That is one.

When Deathstroke is simply walking around, you can use your Batclaw to get him. You can also simply attack him. However if you do, pay attention when Deathstroke counters you so you stop hitting him.

Those were the two biggest difficulties I had with this fight. First that I didn't know I had to wait the slow motion during the "cinematic" sequences and when to stop beating Deathstroke.
