How to fix ACTIVE SPRINT/COVER button and ACOG/scope issues using HEX editor

This guide describes how to fix really annoying ACTIVE SPRINT/COVER button issue, when your cover button (Q) acts almost like active sprint (Shift) so your character automatically jumps over any obstacle. And less annoying almost unnoticeable ACOG/scope issue, when you can't switch vision modes while aiming down sight.

There is a very high chance that your version of Blacklist doesn't have both issues. Not all versions of the game has them. For example, my Steam version has these issue. My friend's Uplay retail version doesn't have both issues. So I used his not affected savegame file with my build of the game to localize the source of the problem. And I succeeded.
Description of active sprint/cover button issue
So If you really have Active Sprint/Cover button issue your Cover button should work like this:
- if you press Cover button Sam goes into/out of cover mode like he did normally
- but if you hold Cover button + WASD Sam automatically jumps over/on any obstacle, almost like you're holding Active Sprint button, although he runs much slower using his current movement speed.

You can set any button as Cover button: Q, Alt, Ctrl. Space, RMB, anything... Cover button will behave like that. And it's really annoying. Because Cover button has several functions in Blacklist That's why sometimes you want to press Cover button just once but hold it a little bit, so instead of sliding and hiding from enemies (or other players in multiplayer match) you expose yourself to them because Sam or spy jumps over a cover.
Description of ACOG/scope issue
This issue is easy to overlook, because it happens in very rare situation and seems logical enough. But you will notice this issue easily if you have Blacklist compatible gamepad and compare gamepad control principles with keyboard and mouse ones.

So when you're aiming down sight (RMB) using scoped weapons (sniper rifle or any weapon with optional ACOG sight) and turn on/off your goggles (F) or switch goggles vision mode (X), the game turns off aiming down sight. So to aim again you need to press aiming down sight button the second time. Gamepad doesn't have this issue, you can turn on/off your goggles staying in aiming mode using above mentioned weapons.

Not a big deal. But when you're playing the game using Assault style you have lots of situations when enemies throw smoking gas grenades at you and you will need to switch to thermal vision very fast to make very precise head shots using your scoped weapon.
How to fix both issues using HEX editor
1) First of all, make sure that you temporarily turn off Uplay cloud synchronization, just in case.

2) Second, back up your savegame files, you can find them in one of the next folders
c:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\[your ciphered uplay login]\91\
c:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\[your ciphered uplay login]\449\

3) Then download freeware hex editor XVI32 from here:

4) Open your 1.save save file using hex editor.

5) If you want to fix ACTIVE SPRINT/COVER button issue press Ctrl+F and find the next Hex string CA C8 C9 change it to C8 C9 CA and press Ctrl+S to save your changes.

6) If you want to fix ACOG/scope issue press Ctrl+F and find the next Hex string D3 D2 CE CF D0 D1 change it to CE CF D0 D1 D2 D3 and press Ctrl+S to save your changes.

Warning!
Now when you got rid of both issues don't try to reset your keyboard settings using 'RESET TO DEFAULTS' button in key bindings menu, because there is a very high chance that both bugs will return. Because your version of the game, your specific build will corrupt your savegame file again after this operation.

That's why I highly recommend to describe both issues and more importantly this solution to Ubisoft Tech Support[support.ubi.com], so they could address them and release a fix for both of them. May be they will find another issues in affected savegame files.

By the way, if you decide to reinstall your game/Uplay/OS I recommend you to back up your savegame files, cause sometimes Uplay cloud has issues with Blacklist savegame sync. There are tons of stories about lost progress out there :) So back up your saves, just in case.

Cheers mate that worked! There were two save files (so 4 files in total) so I just deleted them from 449 and pasted the files from 91 into 449.

If you played the game shortly after release but didn't unistall Uplay there is a chance Uplay forgot to copypaste your savegame files from old 91 folder to new 449
c:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\...\91\

Copy paste these savegame files manually to 449 folder.

I just started Blacklist up again first time since around launch (about 2 week after), and it seems the game has reset me. To the very beggining. That's fine was I was going to start again on Realistic anyway, but I at least wanted all my stuff... got any advise?

For the record, we fixed Jasium savegame file too. It seems like Uplay didn't allow him to do it. So, guys, turn off Uplay cloud synchronization, just in case.

Jasium. you're not the first one who said such thing. Probably something doesn't allow you to fix it, try to turn off Uplay cloud sync for example. Or give me a link to your savegame file, I will check it myself.
