Release date: Available now (web client), Windows client TBA on steam.
Ascent is a new space MMO set in a future where civilisation has almost completely collapsed. Players must work together to prevent total disaster, and rebuild a new civilisation of their own choosing.

So far, completed features include:

  • Combat (fighter style dogfighting, and big ship broadside duels)
  • Trading
  • Mission system (combat, transport, passengers, courier, supply, demand)
  • Asteroid mining
  • Farming and mining on planet surfaces
  • Personal starbase construction
  • Research
  • Manufacturing (you can build and customise your ships, including custom color schemes)
  • Interaction with other players (you can see their ships in space, trade with them on the global market, and galaxy-wide chat is enabled)
  • Gas giant harvesting. (because sometimes you need things like hydrogen and oxygen!)

We release a new major version roughly once every month, with the next version scheduled for December 1 to expand the in-game galaxy from the nine solar systems currently available, to around 200 billion (this is not a typo).

In the beginning the game is crazily simple / easy to get into, especially if you choose the industrialist rather than combat-oriented starting position. However, the level of difficulty and complexity steadily ramp up and up, along with the rewards. See our design & vision statements on the website for further details.

Currently the game is playable on Windows and Mac using the Unity3d web client, directly through our website ( However, it is our intention to release a Windows build via steam, if we can get enough support from potential players.

The pve centric nature of the game has really caught my eye.

'ey! I'm glad to see a PVE focused Sandbox out there in development. Tossing my thumbs up your way and sharing this to my spacey friends. I know most will give this a shot when it comes up on steam! Good luck!

Finally, a developer that understands that not every sandbox player loves pvp. I loved the complexity that you could find in Eve. But even high sec space wasn't safe from griefers. Seems odd to think playing in a sandbox is all about smashing the other persons castle.

I like the fact that the focus will be PVE exploration.

Hi target, can I suggest you check out the free version via the web player on our website? The PC download version is nearly identical to this so you could get a really good idea what you're buying from that.

Aside from the PC version, there are three kinds of premium access in the game which cost $1USD per month each. A good explanation for what they give you is on our wiki here[]

Looks good but I dont see what you get when you buy it for 3.49 euro on your web page.
Can you elaborate what it costs to play it?

Cryo - try the combat missions quest line - I would really value your feedback if you think it lacks challenge a few missions in. In my experience everyone finds a level somewhere in those missions where it's in fact really challenging.

Funny you mention the grav anchor, the most fun I had with the initial combat release was teaching the AI to grav anchor slide when in pursuit.

Just the tutorial NPCs for the fighter ship. The space anchor was pretty cool / unique.

this looks very good, graphics aside.
