you need to make a text version of this, because a lot of people (myself included) can't follow what's going on in the video.

The DLC probably does not contain all the assets available in game, so some stuff is probably not going to work. That said, If you have downloaded the Portal DLC AND have extracted the game VPKs AND both are in different folders then one is going to have prioriy over the other. If the DLC has the priority then stuff from that pack should work, f the VPK extract has priority and is set up wrong, the stuff is going to be broken.

Never mind it doesn't work at all

Now you can just get a free dlc pack with ALL the portal stuff in it so yeah that is much easier and NOT physically painful

Well it didn't work, but I see the solution. The models are all saved as .vtx files, and the half life model viewer only opens .mdls which is wierd because yesterday it was working.

Thanks so much.

That was the way we had to do it before SFM was updated back in 2013. If you run the BAT file on a ported mod now, you're going to pooch the port...

This is all you have to do to get the assets into SFM now. I'll put it on your profile so you can find the process easier..

1. Open the {mod} (ie TF2, CS:Source, CS:GO, Portal 2) _dir.vpk files in GCFScape (1.8.5),
2. Create a folder in your Steam\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game folder for the files your going to extract.
3. Extract the Models, Materials, Particles and Sound folders ONLY from the _dir.vpk files into that folder
4. Launch the SFM SDK
5. Select Edit Search paths from the SDK
6 Find the folder you created in the list and check it on.
7. If you need it to replace existing mods, move above the mod that needs to be replaced. (ie TF2 Port to SFM)
8. Launch SFM
9. Create a session and load a map
10. Create an animationSet for new model
11. Change the mod folder from All Mods to the folder you created
12. Watch the models you extracted fill the browser
13. Select one of the models, it should display properly in the viewer.

Well, the game recognizes that they exist, and I have seen people doing tutorials on it before. I followed all their steps, and did that folder change thing, and even ran a special code that moves them to the right files. Their names and even their collision show up in game, but the mesh just isn't there.
