For new captains choosing to command a corvette
By Crow 2-5
There may not be fighters in the game atm but i have some tips or two being that i traveled much of gemini and did missions in a corvette.

1. the ambush-happy A.I., to counter them keep your boosters at max and get a good amount of distance between you and the enemy, but of course you can choose to keep it moving, after gaining some distance like about 1100. After that turn around and let em have it but don't get too close, the corvettes have low shields as well as low armor.

2. a pretty good weapon of choice would be the railgun, its accuracy may not be amazing but its dps is much greater. fire in burst to get an idea of where to hit them then fire in full auto, turn and burn when missiles are imbound since they cant sustain prolonged pursuit.

3. know your hard points since the corvette only has about 6 or less turret sockets, SPG (as well as captains from other games) veterans know that a ships fire power also depends on the direction its facing. If your good at dodging fire and can manuever into a larger ships blind spot than you can be affective with the railgun facing forward, but til then put the railgun on your port or starboard side (left or right).

These are just tips to be able to survive in Gemini long enough to come up with your own stories and advice. And one last thing to remember, the corvette is a small and nimble ship so it will vulnerable to concentrated fire, know your enemies and pick your battles wisely.

- Long live the Empire!

I think so too. Although the Adhara shares this bonus.

I have the cyclops, it was one of my first corvettes and my favorite. its turret placement was really good

The Korkyra Cyclops is a viable alternative for the Adhara if you like having a reasonable shield amount. (600). It also comes with 1 turret more on the sides but has 2.0 less battery recharge rate. The worst about the Cyclops is it's inability to cloak.
On the bright side it looks cooler than the Adhara ;)

I can confirm that you can buy the Adhara at the MultiOps HQ in Plymouth.

This info is outdated, yet it may be useful:
- Adhara - MultiOps HQ, Plymouth
(From List of ships [www.starpointgemini.com])

Yeah, I found FAW (Fire at Will (poor guy william ;D )) to be more effective in most situations when I was fighting a single strong opponent. For multiple weaker ones it is viable as well, but for multiple strong ones definitely a no go (you should avoid such fights alone anyway :D)

If it helps I think I captured it a bit to the north east of the starting region, but no guarantee. You will see the ships name however as soon as you've got it targeted.

If your alignment is rather evil, you'll probably be able to buy it somewhere anymway...

hmm, i will commence a search for the Adhera and check it out myself. I've tried alot of ships but not all of them, I now have a new mission! also that is a good strategy, the fire at will command gives you a very feeling of control, letting you pilot the ship and dodge fire as your turrets pound the enemy

With this ship I tend to travel cloaked and if I'd like to engage an enemy, I get in range of my weapons (not yet fully strategized) activate fire at will and manually dodge enemy fire. When Shields begin to drop at a point where the tactical overlay begins to become yellowish (~75%) I activate my class skill to grant me evasion. Coupled with an officer granting evasion and the perks I really do not take too much damage anymore. I try to keep my ship at a distance to the enemy and surround him, guns pointed at the enemy. Whenever there is a critical threat, I either activate PTE for a quick getaway or cloak to vanish from the eyes of the enemy. When everything has regenerated I restart anew.

So for me a corvette / gunship MUST have a cloak to be somewhat efficient. I even fight without heavy weapons...

The best corvette ship I've found so far is the Adhera, produced by MultiOps and selling location unknown (captured from opponent).

My thoughts exactly.

And with the new class system, choosing the commander class can greatly increase gunship / corvette efficiency. The 1st skill boosts general behaviour like damage, speed, maneuverability and Soak (whatever this is). The 2nd skill would fit more a tanky gameplay and isn't really much of use as it is based on damage taken. The 3rd skill enhances hull resistances and hull repair while the 4th skill provides evasion, speed, maneuverability, heavy weapon dodge and accuracy.
