Most quest items (over 100 in total) in the game can be dropped, stored, sold or given away. However, once you get rid of a quest item, you will be unable to complete the quest in which the item is needed. For instance, if you get rid of the Torc of Labyrinthian, you will be unable to retrieve the Staff of Magnus.

All of these items can be replicated an unlimited number of times for display in your houses. The spell tome to learn the spell to replicate the quest items can be found on a ruin altar in Bleak Falls Barrow near a dead Nord bandit (the first area upon entering the barrow).

Being able to replicate certain items will depend on the choise you make ingame: Imperials or Stormcloaks, Dawnguard or Vampires.

If you want to have a replica of a quest item for display, replicate that item as soon as you have obtained that item. Some quest items change IDs during a quest and can therefore not be replicated. Also, replicate a quest item before handing the original item to the questgiver. Not all variances of a quest item are available for replication in this plugin (yet). Added to all player ownable houses is a new chest called "Quest Item Chest". Note, that each time you cast the spell all quest items in your inventory will be replicated, also those one that you may replicated earlier in the game.

This plugin has just been partially tested. I have started a new game with lots of cheating to get some proper first test results and to have some pictures to show. These tests look pretty promising, but please update me on faults, omissions, etc. For the moment, this plugin recognizes quest items and when casting the replication spell, a replica of those quest items will be put into you inventory. However, I've not been able to see yet if all replicas are stored in your inventory, but after a few hours of playing I found that all quest items have been replicated properly.

This plugin has a BSA file attached. If this BSA file is not automatically installed in your Data folder, you may download a ZIP archive from my website ( It seems that Steam Workshop doesn't support Papyrus script updates. If you encounter any future problems, you can allways turn to updates on my website.

Rev. 2: More removable quest items, in particular from Dawnguard and Dragonborn quests.

The Lost to the Ages quest is divided into 11 subquests. I have checked them all again, but none have the quest item marker. Normally you should be able to drop them now. But, these quests seem to be quite buggy. There may be a solution using the console. Quest item IDs in this quest are: xx00575B (crest), xx00575C, xx01433C, xx01433D, xx01433E (shards), xx0146DB (journal) and xx01A436 (scrap of paper). The xx stands for the number of the DLC in load order. I presume you have Update.esm installed. The xx = 02, otherwise xx = 01.
Press the tilde-key (~) to go into the console
Use the console command removeitem, e.g.:
removeitem 020146DB 1
player.removeitem 020146DB 1
to remove the journal from your inventory. Repeat for any other quest item. Hope this helps! For the moment I am out of ideas as far as these quests are concerned.

The problem was that many quest items are marked as quest item in various different quests under different names/aliases. So, I missed a couple of items, but it should be solved now!

@Angel Phenix: Still being "very nice" to me! Did you know there are over 500 quests in the game, including DLCs? So, covering all quests will take some time! But, now that I know what your problem is, I can solve it. A friendly reply/question will do! Oh ... and it's not Hun, but Nord or Frysian!
Angel Phenix May 14 @ 2:13pm
FIRST OF ALL I was not trolling you Hun, I was very dissapointed that I can't drop these items out of my inventory as I already used a console command to end the quest. It's bugged big time this Lost to the ages quest. So I simply wanted to drop these 2 things from my inventory. I don't want to duplicate them, and yes I have tried to use the DROP console command too and that doesn't work either. So I show the quest completed in my jounal but can't get rid of the 2 items, thought your Mod would help?

@Angel Phenix: BTW, I've looked into your problem, but the shards can be replicated! However, not the journal. There's no need for that, as you can keep the journal when the quest is completed. You probably tried to replicate the shards at the wrong moment.

Thanks for your "very nice" reply, Angel Phenix! Just because I missed something, it's a "total bummer"? I clearly asked to update me on faults, omissions, etc. (see description above).
Angel Phenix May 14 @ 10:40am
does not drop the stupid shards from the Lost of the Ages quest or the Katria journal...
Total Bummer
