As the captain on board a Mandate starship, you lead a crew through the galaxy who adapt and grow as they fight alongside you.

There are a lot of sci-fi RPGs out there, but we feel there’s something lacking. Being huge fans of the sci-fi genre, we wondered why spaceships feel so empty? What’s missing? Looking back to all the TV and Movies that inspired us, like Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica or Firefly, we realised games are missing something integral: a crew. A ship without a crew feels hollow and meaningless, so we’ve taken space travel to the next level. The dangers of space should not only test your metal, but your flesh.

We wanted to make a game where you’re not a solid, singular object in a sky-box; you are a captain in an evolving, dynamic ship that hundreds of people call home. They adapt to you, and grow with you as you fight alongside them, and if you suffer losses, you’ll feel the loss that comes with that.

That’s where the drama is, that’s where the story happens, and it’s the interacting with people on the deck that makes this a complete experience.

We want to create a complete sci-fi RPG experience.

We've written 1500 years of history. It's up to you to write the future. The explorable reaches of space mix hand-crafted and procedurally generated content and is packed with historically relevant easter-eggs offering insight into the Mandate's rich lore.

The Mandate is a complete singleplayer sci-fi RPG with optional 6 player cooperative designed for Windows, Linux and Mac.

It's true that The Mandate is cooperative with up to six players, and there will certainly be mechanics and aspects of the game that complement cooperative gameplay, rewarding those who choose to play this way (tactical specifications, variations on the trinity system, etc), but The Mandate is designed so that each captain decides his very own fate, and enjoys his very own story path. You needn't play with friends, or seldom play with them, it's entirely up to you. There's one thing we need to make very clear, and that is that The Mandate is being created with enough depth and drive to immerse players creative and strategic minds. Many cooperative games distract players from this side, but that's not what we're trying to do. You are your own captain, join your friends, or journey alone - mix, match, whatever you like. It's your sandbox.

We are an international team: Canada, USA, Sweden, Norway, UK, France, Slovakia.

We are a team of veteran developers who decided to go Indie together and come from different game developers each with their own strengths [ex-EA, ex-2K Games, ex-Ubisoft, ex-Funcom]. Previously we have worked on and shipped both singleplayer, multiplayer and MMO AAA productions with team size ranging from 30 to 200

i am really sorry that i missed your kickstarted project but i love your game its what i always dreamed of in the space rpgs love u. Steam add this or imma shoot myself with a wallnut

I contacted them through their Facebook page and they were already in the process of updating their list of supporters who preordered. I checked today and I'm on! :)

@rolfskalder if you send them an email they respond with in a couple hours, apparently the last time they imported was around the 10th and they are importing today or tomorrow

going on two weeks now since I preordered through paypal and other than a digital receipt from paypal, no acknowledgement from the game company that I've preordered the game, no contact information to allow me to access the game website's forums, nothing. The game looks great, but if I don't hear from them in another week, I'm going to seek to get my money back. When someone pays to be a backer, you'd think the company would be quick to acknowledge this. The only other time I've had to wait was a very small dev team and I waited 24 hours before they sent an acknowledgement. Two weeks is not a good sign :(

Current the Specs that Devs are going for is this:
Just to clarify since we got a few messages about this: Our min spec for The Mandate is actually rather conservative but we focus on optimization from the start as it can affect both art direction and game design. While we do not have final specs, on the hardware side we are aiming for the following (recommended spec will be higher): Min spec (not final) - CPU: dual core 2.4 GHz or higher - GPU: Intel HD3000/4000, AMD/ATI 3850, nVidia 8600 GT - System RAM: 3 GB - Shader model: 3.0 or higher (DX9.0c+ on Windows) Basically if you have a decent gaming PC that is 5-6 years old or a laptop with integrated graphics (from Intel) that is 2-3 years old, or a laptop with discrete graphics (from nVidia / AMD) that is 3-4 years old, then you should be ok.

just read the cargo ship update, and let's just say i never wanted something this badly before \o/ having interactivity with the war time economy, beyond simple sliders to make your populous happy is always super welcome in this day and age in what seems to be the dumbing down or complete removal of activities such as this.

Your already screwing up with the product branding. THE MANDATE? Makes me think i'm playing a game about congress. or lawyers. How about Reapers Wind or Space Sea Wench. Its about a crew so...name the game after the ship the crew is in duh. You give examples of sci-fi like FireFly. Named after a ship.
