A long overdue update
That’s no excuse!…

And you are absolutely right. As I said, I am terribly sorry for not being up to your expectations in a matter of giving news about the game development for the reasons stated before. And this should come to an end, I should be accountable to you guys. You supported me and Memories since I’ve put it on Greenlight, I have to deliver. Without further ado, here’s what’s to come:

The story has progressed. There are some areas that need some work, including dialog, but so far, it’s safe to say that I have something solid enough to build the game around it. I found out that it was difficult to not fall into the series of clichés that make Memories what it is. Someone mentioned, during the Greenlight, that the character looked too much like Matt Smith in Doctor Who. That has been changed (you saw it in the 2015 gif I posted). The story now has two characters; John and Jeanette. John is the psychic mind explorator and Jeanette is the former dectective turned private eye investigator that teams up with John to find clues.

Art style was changed to something better, including backgrounds. Something that brings us closer to the adventure game general philosophy. It’s not super original, but it’s better than it used to be.

It’s a work in progress background, but you get the idea. Doing everything is very demanding, but we’re getting there!

Last time I mentioned I wanted to update you more on the progress and I obviously failed that. During that time however I worked a few gigs in a few game studios and gained experience in planning my work. In order to build a sense of community for the game, I do need to post more, and again I will try to post more often, that includes #screenshotSaturday commitment. You can give your feedback or simply see the game fleshing out. The only way I found to be able to work on my game consistently so far is to work early in the morning before hitting that 2 hours drive to work, while everyone in the house is still asleep. I’ll commit to that and give you results, listen to your ideas and feedback.

The game will also have a different name. Memories will now be known as Mind Drifters. The main reason being there is a lot of game with the name Memories in the title. The other reason is mostly that it represent better what the story has came to be with time. John should be known as a Mind Drifter rather than a psychic and the story will evolve around that fact. I will not hide the fact that the story is inspired by things you might already now but building a whole sci-fi theory is difficult without slightly walking over stories that already exists. I’m fine with that, the mind is a complex thing and popular culture likes to discuss about its myth and common beliefs.

I’m far from perfect, but I don’t want to give this project up. So thanks to all of you for still following my game and poking me when I just seem dead. I appreciate and I kind of needed that little kick. I tried to be as authentic as I am in this post, so if you have any question, at all, comments, I'll reply swiftly with answers,

User Skymasterninja (thanks for the poke) wanted an update about the release date. I will not confirm an exact date as of yet, but I think it’s fairly fair to give the late fall as a release. I’ll update you on that as it goes. I have though about early access, but as far as this kind of game goes, relying a lot on the linear storyline, I figure the interest would disappear quickly. If you think otherwise, or want to be in the beta program, please, let me know! :)

Happy new year!
Release date: Somewhere in 2014
Nostalgic about the days of point-and-click adventures? Relive the fun with Memories! As John, you travel through other people's minds to discover secrets. Thanks to a mysterious ability, John can reenact a person’s memories and uncover truths that may have been unknowingly recorded by their subconsciousness mind. But to trigger memories and therefore find clues, you must interact with objects using all of your five senses - hearing, sight, touch, smell and taste (yes, even taste). With some help from your partner Jeannette, you guide John through his work day. Will you be able to uncover John's troubled and forgotten past? As you extract memories, do you risk losing your own?

- Episodic adventures. Approx. 2 hours of gameplay per episode, the time it takes to travel from our studio to Montreal and back.

- Use the 'taste' action on anything, making it a point-and-lick game.

- Voice-acting (so you may enjoy the Canadian accent, eh?).

- Written, hand-drawn and programmed by a comic artist and former mailman that was weaned on the strange humor of Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom and Torin’s Passage.

Hi Skymasterninja (wow, I love your user name!).

First, sorry for the delay in this reply. I would have replied faster but due to date of my last post, I figured it need a longer an more detailed answer.

To answer your specific question I am aiming for a late Fall release, but I invite you to read the post I just made for more information.
