The Radio-Controlled Aerial Turret

You can download the rcat in its current state here (Updated 21/09/2013. Improved visuals and team colours ): http://www.mediafire.com/download/zffsf9cjr9whdcz/Rcat_professor_speks.rar

At the moment it is a cosmetic item only, replacing Professor Speks.

TF2 never had enough flying gun for my liking, so I made the R-CAT, a replacement to the sentry in Engineers Loadout.
Although un-upgradable, this machine is a little more powerful than the regular Level 1 sentry, and fully mobile. It is not autonomous like the regular sentry either, but must be controlled by the engineer from anywhere on the map (leaving engie vulnerable whilst operating).

Although it can fly, it will do so at a fixed height (about head-level) to avoid hit-and-fly to the sky gameplay.

It is still vulnerable to sappers, if a spy saps the thing, it becomes immobile and useless. If Engie stops controlling it while it is still deployed, it becomes immobile and useless.

This is an early work in progress, there will be model and texture revisions, and I have yet to get it working in-game, but I will continue on this little beast until I am happy.

I know this would be a big change to the game, and I also know getting valve to choose this thing is a pretty long shot, but I'm doing this mostly for myself. In any case, seeing support from kind folk as yourselves is very nice, and appreciated!

This ended up getting a lot more attention than I thought it would, which is great. So I'm clearing a few things up. Right now it is only a cosmetic item, but I am trying to give it full functionality (my skills in this area are limited, so this may not happen). Some are saying this will be OP...Valve decides the stats if they want to add this, and they've done a good job of keeping stuff balanced so far, all the stats I have on here are just how I envisioned it.

Looks awsome!
What software was used to make this?

Very cool!! But more powerful than a Sentry 1?? That would be too powerful. Being in the air makes it hard to hit with splash damage. Perhaps 1/2 as strong as a L1 sentry.

Another idea might be that it works a bit like a harvester and collects ammo/metal you point it towards with alt fire. Or alternatively, it can deliver minor healing and ammunition to teammates.

It's acctuly for MY opinion to small. If it replaces the sentry then the engineer would be a war engineer instead. Maybe add in some armor or weapons to go along with it so the engineer has a chance to get threw some obsticals. Depending on the R-CAT's damage and range.

This is interesting once it can properly fight and its not just a cosmetic item this could give engi a nice advantage over the enemy
