Intro
This is a small guide that I plan to add to as I play the game more and discover more of it. The guide will be comprised of lesser-known techniques. More images coming soon!
Weapons
The Shotgun
  • To kill robots, shoot at them until they die. This usually takes just one or two hits.

The Hatchet
  • Occasionally, a hit from the axe will stagger a robot. Take this opportunity to bash the bugger into smithereens.
  • If a robot begins to backpedal after you first strike it, you have two choices. Either follow it- eventually it will crouch down and cower, allowing you to deliver a killing blow- or simply run around behind it and hit it as it moves towards you.
  • You're a doctor, not a lumberjack. Be mindful of the axe's slow swing and your Morrowind-esque miss rate.

The Revolver
  • It is not always necessary to aim down the sights of the revolver. If you keep your aim steady, you can quickly fire off enough shots to kill a standard enemy.
  • Ammo for the revolver is plentiful on most runs, so don't be afraid to spray and pray and close range- just mind the long reload time.

The Rifle
  • Use the binoculars to aim at distant targets. The rifle's sights are a bit obtrusive, and the binoculars make for a nice, if improvised scope.

Stealth
  • Set decoy fires to draw in robots. While they cluster around the campfire that you've left behind, sneak by or ambush them.

  • There are several different grades of foliage, each granting varying degrees of obscurity. Though they may seem superior, the long, brittle bushes (pictured below) found in and around patches of trees do not fully hide you.

For virtual invisibility, hide in the reedlike, half-dead farmland.

  • Even though bots can see you through the hedges, the shrubbery stops their bullets like it's concrete. If you're surrounded, vault a hedge and book it.

  • Avoid balloons like the plague. Their spotlights sweep the land quickly and with great breadth, and getting spotted means you'll have to leave until paranoia in the area dies down.

Survival
  • Pick a building near the Standing Stones to use as a stash for extra items. Ideally, this should a thicket-shack or one of the lone-standing manors. Robots tend to avoid the small shacks you find in the woods, and the manors usually have multiple doors, for plenty of storage.
  • In addition to Standing Stone stashes, it helps to have additional storage near the boats. Anywhere near a compass marker is a good place for a makeshift warehouse.
  • Always keep an eye on the horizon. Note which way hunting parties are moving and plan your route accoordingly. This seems obvious, but if you neglect to check and recheck your routes, you may find yourself face to face with a group of hunters.
  • Cooked game fills your vitality completely, but the game itself takes up a lot of inventory space and is dangerous to cook. If you're on an archipelago with plentiful food loot, it may be best to forgo game entirely.
  • Unless you've got lengthy fingers or a tiny keyboard, rebind the inventory key to something else. I is awful... just awful.

@Wodian There is no delay when cooking meat. Food is converted instantly when you use it on a lit fire.

Can you wang raw meat on the fire & come back for it later, when the bots have cleared off?

@Panda ツ Tab is always the best way to open in inventory in my opinion.

Nice guide! The pictures at the end were a bit confusing because they weren't aligned with the text, but other than that, great job.

Industrial Islands are nice because Robots AND Rabbits get stuck in the canals; they can't climb the walls! easy way to score some food.

shacks, phone kiosks and trash cans. triforce of safest stashes you can find in archipelago.

What key do you think I should re-bind inventory to? I already made e interact, f lean right and q lean left and Im not sure what key to use.

The Morrowind-esque miss rate is sadly very true.

Don't forget the scarecrows that freak out and alert robots when approached!
