This map creates several continents and numerous offshore islands, with realistic climate and many advanced features. The goal is a middle ground between aesthetic realism and gameplay balance.
  • Islands reward naval exploration.
  • Ocean rifts make Astronomy useful.
  • Mountains affect rain and snow.
  • Natural wonders appear at good spots.
  • Rivers flow through lakes into oceans.
  • Can be played in multiplayer (see below).
  • Game setup options adjust basic settings.
  • More settings at the top of the map file provide extensive customization.
  • The normal Continents-style option balances the two parts of the world.
  • The Terra-style custom map option creates more Earthlike old and new worlds.

- Installation -

This map is compatible with BNW and GNK.

To play the map normally:
1. Click Subscribe above.
2. Activate the map in the ingame Mods list, then click Next.
3. Choose 'Communitas' from the game setup map list that follows.

If you wish to use the map without mods, copy the Communitas.lua file from the mod folder (1) to the assets folder (2), then select and play it like a normal map.

2: \Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\Maps\Communitas.lua

If you want to play the map in multiplayer with friends, everyone needs to copy the map to the Assets location (above), then follow these steps:

1. Start the game together.
2. Host saves the game.
3. Everyone exits to the main menu.
4. Host restarts the game by loading the save file.
5. Friends rejoin the host.

This method worked for my friends and I. (Reloading works around a problem with Civ's random number generator creating different results for different people. Everyone plays the host's version.)

Loaded up a huge map, was dismayed it was only 91,61 tiles not 127,79. Is that the max?

I've never seen bison on this map. Is that intentional? Or have I somehow just been missing them after tons of games.

No going back to vanilla maps for me
this is probably the best map mod for this game, my only complaint is that sometimes the resources spawned are very sparse, even with abundant resources on.

I tried to use your map with JDH's Modloader but I get this error . Can you try to fix this because your map looks realy good.

Great maps thank, i have a question about editing. When ever i edit a maps of any kind, my ancient ruins( goody hutts) used to be called lol don't show up. How do you save them. How do you save your maps so they show up when you play them , thanks.

Has anyone else found the "SUPER" tile in this map?!
randomly in soem games, a tile, usually 0,0, always southern ocan right at edge of map boudnayr, has insane stats, it looks like ice but if you hover over it, it's like 52 food production and 9 gold or some such!!
is it a bug or a homage to CAPRONA, the legendary living continent form Edgar Rice Burroughs THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT?

Hey great work on this fine mapscript! It produces some magnificent continents.

I do have a problem though. About 75% of the time generating a map I get a fairly large diamond-shaped island/continent in between the 2 main continents.
Is this supposed to happen? The maps I see in pics seem to have way better and more variable rift placement and shapes.

I've been having a problem with farms while using this mod. The roads/paths/borders between the farms and the barn show up, but the actual farmland doesn't. I hope there is a fix for this because I really like the maps that it has made.
