Release - Char 1.0.1.30
Release 1.0.1.29
Description
An old-school rogue-like where ascii characters rule the realm and interact with beautiful particle effects!

Key differentiators between this and other Rogue-like's:
. Particle effects! Fireballs aren't just * moving around!
. Monster's have interesting behavior. Some are pack animals and will flee if there aren't enough around. Mini-bosses will react intelligently to player behavior.
. Designed to be a short game. Estimated time (assuming you win) is 2 hours per game.
. Maps are pre-generated, but the selection of which maps are in play is random.
. A high difficulty level. There is no natural healing in the game, and there is no instant healing.

Yep. It is a feature! And a new build is almost ready.

Come on man, the acii is so painful to see...
I always hated having to deal with it when playing over rogue likes and now you're treating it more like a feature then a limitation.

The scripts are C# (.cs) files that sit in a folder .. pretty accessible :)

Oh, sure, there's plenty of ways to do it, and it's not difficult to do. The important thing is making it accessible and debuggable to modders.

I love Hawthorn's idea. As a c# programmer it makes a lot of sense to me.

It is 100% possible. Consider this. Use the factory pattern to have your AI scripts pull from a common virtual class. Use CodeDom to compile (on the fly) the factory implementations into an in memory assembly.

I did this for a plugin model I built for a previous project .. pretty slick.

That's somewhat possible. I've been meaning to extract the files that define maze cells, monsters, and items and compile them on the fly. I'll see if I can get that working for my next release.

I would love to work on this. I have always had an idea of building an NPC that is scripted with a C# file the user writes, that is compiled on the fly with CodeDOM. So scripters can building a party that reacts the way they want.

Fighters charge mobs .. wizards back and cast spells. Also the scripts could be tweaked for monsters ;)

Currently, yes, this is written in C#.
