Saints Row: The Third 100% Completion Guide
By GeoLuz
This guide will explain how to achieve 100% completion for Saints Row: The Third. There has been a lot of confusion over what constitutes 100% completion, including an incorrect claim in the Prima official strategy guide. I achieved 100% completion and I figured out what is required and not required for 100% completion.

To clarify the percentages displayed in the table above, the mission completion rate is 1% per mission. On some missions the percentage completed will increase by a total of 3% because the completion of those missions includes strongholds that are awarded for completion. The strongholds are cribs that can be upgraded. The only stronghold that is not unlocked as a crib is Mission 12: Hit The Powder Room, but it counts as a stronghold nonetheless. There are four missions that award strongholds upon completion:
  • Pimps Up, Hos Down - Safeword crib is unlocked.
  • Stop All The Downloading - Burns Hills Reactors is unlocked.
  • 3 Count Beat Down - 3 Count Casino crib is unlocked.
  • Hit The Powder Room - As mentioned before, not unlocked as a crib.

Activities are over-the-top side missions that vary in difficulty. They are represented by their icons floating over the streets and sidewalks. Their icons can also be found on the game map. As shown in the table, the completion rate is 0.625%.The list of activities is as follows:
  • Snatch - 2 locations with 3 levels each, with different levels of difficulty.
  • Escort - 2 locations with 3 levels each, with different levels of difficulty.
  • Trafficking - 2 locations with 3 levels, with different levels of difficulty.
  • Insurance Fraud - 2 locations with 3 levels with different levels of difficulty.
  • Mayhem - 2 locations with 3 levels with different levels of difficulty.
  • Tank Mayhem - 2 locations with 3 levels with different levels of difficulty.
  • Helicopter Assault - 2 locations with 3 levels with different levels of difficulty.
  • Trail Blazing - 2 locations with 3 levels with different levels of difficulty.
  • Professor Genki's Super Ethical Reality Climax - 2 locations with 3 different levels of difficulty.
  • Guardian Angel - 2 locations with 1 level of difficulty.

The collectibles are items that are scattered throughout the city of Steelport. You can find collectibles by exploring alleys and tunnels. It is possible to use the cash you have earned throughout the game to purchase the GPS locations for collectibles by using your cellphone. Each collectible is worth $1,000 and you will earn $10,000 for every 5 collectibles. As shown in the table, the completion rate is 0.125%. The collectibles are shown below.
  • Sex dolls - There are 20 of them.
  • Money pallets - There are 20 of them.
  • Drug packages - There are 20 of them.
  • Photo ops - There are 20 of them. Find Saints Row fans on the streets of Steelport with cameras that are eager to take a photo of The Protagonist.

It is worth noting that the completion of all 47 missions in order to arrive at 100% completion can be a little tricky after completing Mission 44: Murderbrawl XXXI. The beginning of the end of the main story begins in Mission 45: Three Way. Towards the end of Three Way you will be faced with two choices: Save Shaundi and Viola or kill Killbane. I recommend choosing to kill Killbane first so that you can access Mission 46: Stag Film from your phone after Three Way is completed. If you choose to save Shaundi and Viola the story will automatically skip Stag Film and advance to Mission 47: Gangstas in Space. After completing Stag Film you will have completed 99% of the game assuming you have completed all other items such as activities and collectibles. You will have the option on your phone to play Three Way again and you will have to option to save Shaundi and Viola as an alternate ending. In essence, both endings must be completed in order to achieve 100% completion.

The screenshot below displays the two options in Three Way after clearing the armory with help from Oleg Kirrlov and Pierce Washington. Note that the save Shaundi option is in green text and the eliminate Killbane option is in red text.

The next screenshot displays a scene from Stag Film after choosing to pursue Killbane.

The following screenshot shows a scene from Gangstas in Space after choosing to save Shaundi and Viola. Remember that Gangstas in Space triggers automatically after saving Shaundi and Viola from Kia in Three Way.

The following screenshot displays 100% completion auto-save file and 100% completion manual save file.

Items Not Required To Be Completed To Achieve 100% Completion
The following items are not required to reach 100% completion:

  • Challenges - There are 41 challenges. Challenges are milestones such as kill 50 Brutes, carjack 250 vehicles, streak for 600 seconds, get 500 multi-kills, etc. Open the Saints Book on your phone to find them.
  • Assassinations - There are 36 targets to be assassinated. Find them in the Saints Book on your phone. You will not have access to all 36 targets until you have progressed enough through the story missions.
  • Vehicle Theft - There are 30 vehicles to be stolen. Find them in the Saints Book on your phone. You will not have the opportunity to steal all 30 vehicles until you have progressed enough through the story missions.
  • Stunt Jumps - You can find 37 locations for stunt jumps in the beginning of the game until completion of Mission 39: My Name Is Cyrus Temple. Stunt jumps 38-55 are available when Stag raises the bridges around Steelport. Stunt jumps 56-63 are available after completion of Mission 41: Zombie Attack. Overall, there are 63 stunt jump locations.
  • Barnstorming - There are 50 locations for barnstorming.
  • Survival - These are diversions you can take upon receiving random phone calls to take on rival gangs, mascots, or zombies. You must survive each wave of enemies to complete a survival side mission. Survival can be extremely tough if your character is not upgraded enough. There are 26 survival locations.
  • City Takeover - Includes purchasing stores, properties, and elimination of gang operations. The icons of stores and properties can be found all over the map with dollar signs on them if they haven't yet been purchased. Store ownership and property ownership leads to cash earned by the hour. Store ownership can also help you escape from the police and rival gangs by entering them if you have a wanted level. Gang operations can also be found all over the map as there are 32 of them.

The items listed above are great for fun, cash, respect, and Steam achievements. In the Prima official guide Elizabeth Zelle, one of the game's testers, claims that City Takeover is necessary to reach 100% completion. I have found this claim to be inaccurate. As I purchased stores, purchased properties, and eliminated gang operations my percentage completion never changed.

The following screenshot displays the final survival location with Mayor Burt Reynolds as a homie and using a Saints Crusader from one of the game's DLCs, Saints Row: The Third Special Ops Vehicle Pack. The Saints Crusader gives you a huge advantage in survival locations.

The next two screenshots show what it looks like to take on a gang operation, The Luchadores and The Deckers, respectively.

I gave some tips on how to play some of the items listed in this section of the guide because I don't think they should be ignored even if they are not required for 100% completion. They are plenty of fun and greatly enhance Saints Row: The Third's entertainment value.

I mentioned in my guide that the City Takeover is not required to earn 100%, as this guide is strictly about getting 100% completion of the game. You are looking for the Bright Lights, Big City achievement.

I already took over the cities but I'm not getting the achievement for it. Am I missing something or is it a glitch?
