Tangiers PayPal Closing Sunday
Description
Release date: August 2014
We are currently fundraising on Kickstarter! See the links section at the side!

This is UK, 2-man (and friends!) studio Andalusian's debut game.

Tangiers is a dark and atmospheric, off-beat blend of stealth and exploration. Search a desolate, broken surrealist world while investigating and disposing of five targets.

Looking to both the Thief games and console offerings such as Shadow of the Colossus and Ico, Tangiers seeks to create a mature, emotive experience.

Everything in the game is sandbox and non-linear; from the infiltration of dense urban areas to the exploration of the bleak, hallucinogenic landscapes. As with the originals, the manner of your approach is up to you: proceeding through pure stealth or as a violent assassin.

This all has consequence – the game world is entirely reactive. In homage to William Burroughs’ cut-up technique, the world re-assembles and collapses based upon your actions. Where, when and how all determine the results of this, turning reality into a unique collage with every play through.

Similarly, the games interactions are similarly refracted. The words of other characters materialize into reality and can be stolen. Use your collected language to mislead foes, spread disinformation and paranoia or to alter reality.

Tightly incorporated into the games scope, we draw upon influences not normally found within the medium. The afore-mentioned William S. Burroughs stands at the front of our design, but tying in with this we look to others such as David Lynch, Dada, early Industrial music, Sun Ra and many others.

Tangiers is being built in the Unity engine, with a release date of August 2014.
Currently announced platforms are Windows, Mac and Linux.

Thank god this is still being worked on! One of my most anticipated games in the works!

Btw, the dev wrote about some extra funding he'd aquired; is there any way as a not initial backer to throw my money at him? I was aware of the project back when the kickstarter took place but I forgot to fund it :( Really sad I can't show my gratitude that someone even tries to create a game such as this...

Glad to hear it's still a work in progress. I was getting very concerned too over the last couple months, I would be extremely bummed if this went vaporwear. All the influences are everything I could ask for and barely explored in a video game ... we need more of these kinds of refreshing surrealism and experimentation in the archives of the video game world!

Sorry everyone - did not know that we have still been getting comments on here! Steam's Notifictions have been rather... sparse.
Been keeping our heads down while we grind towards Beta. Improved a lot with the game since we last made a showing; making sure that we've got enough stuff polished off to maintain staying visible without showing too much :)
Nearly there though, you should be hearing a lot more from us in the near future!

How much longer must you make us wait oystercake? I've been watching the game progress since you started in early 2013, I'm very eager to try it out when you release the beta :)
