NodePaint is a image editing and drawing software that uses a node based approach to give you unbelievable flexibility and free your creativity from technical issues. While the node based approach is not new, node based software until now is usually geared towards movie and TV post production. NodePaint is the first software that specializes in the tasks of image editing and image creation. Node based image software of today is either free but very limited in feature set, or costs several thousand dollars and still is not optimized for image creation. NodePaint tries to fill this gap.

NodePaint is in active development ant it's current features are:

  • Flexible, non-destructive image editing
  • Node based workflow, optimized for image editing and creation
  • Fast multi-core calculations
  • Automated image processing
  • Available for FreeBSD, Linux, Mac OSX and Windows

System requirements

Linux x86 3.2.0, glibc 3.13 or higher, 1 GB RAM, 50 MB Harddisk space, 32 and 64 bit builds available

Mac OSX:

Intel Mac with Mac OSX 10.6.8 or higher, 1GB RAM, 50 MB Harddisk space

There is no video because i don't do google anymore, and steam is only supporting youtube. I put up an older video, see announcement.

I'll be promoting the project for now, since the idea is actually very good and also for being the only software in the steam, focused more on creating and editing images.

Node based editing is what is coming. I'm a veteran Photoshop artist and I'm tired of the limitations of the old linear layer system. This software excites me! I have hope that soon I will not just have to imagine better editing workflow but can use it.

@jarfil, Filterforge is a Photoshop plugin, NodePaint is a Photoshop alternative, you can't compare both. Of course NodePaint is not yet where it will be, and due to not too much interrest (1 sold license to someone i do not know personally ;) ) development slowed a bit down in the moment (though not stopped), but comparing it so a Photosop plugin is like comparing vim to ms word, it's just not the same.
