Here's a DPS comparison on Nightmare at level 100 without costumes. The bosses have 350+ million HP, so it will take you a while to kill each of them if you choose poorly. I recommend Ranger/Barbarian/Squire with a support Monk.

Ranged DPS
1. Ranger = 3.1m auto+spread DPS, 2.6m DPS, 1.8m spread, 245k hp (Photon Spray, low range)
2. Ranger = 0.9m auto+spread DPS, 0.5m DPS, 1.5m spread, 245k hp (Blunderbuss, pierce)
3. Jester = 0.7m DPS, 480k HP
4. Apprentice = 0.6m DPS, 7.5m bomb, 130k hp
5. SeriesEV = 0.5m DPS, 2.2m proton, 250k hp

Melee DPS
1. Barbarian = 2m auto+hawk DPS, 1m DPS, 12m hawk, 460k hp
2. Squire = 2m rage+circle DPS, 1.4m rage DPS, 0.5m DPS, 3.6m circle, 500k hp
3. Monk = 0.75m boosted DPS, 0.25m DPS, 200k hp (Punk Glaive)

Pets
1. Chicken = 50k DPS ranged, 180k DPS melee
2. Destructoid = 50k DPS ranged, 150k DPS melee
3. Tiger = 200k DPS melee
4. Monkey = 25k DPS

If you're playing HC know there's certain enemies you should focus first. Some are stealthed/transparent.

Wave 1: Mega Cupid - charms/slows you
Wave 2+: Demons - these can go stealth mode and will kill you in a single melee hit
Wave 4: Masked Mage - charms/slows you

You can also upgrade the Mega Chicken after the first wave.
