Description
AK47 as seen in 'Sableagle's gun mods' and 'Rufioh Nitram remix,' either the game's heaviest SMG or its least accurate rifle, depending on your point of view and/or on whether it's got a laser on it.

Real-world magazine size and rate of fire, and more like the right amount of damage.

.44 Magnum, as fired by the Deagle with the 8-rd magazine:

7.62x39mm, as fired by the AK47:
Full Metal Jacket (standard for the military):

Soft Point (more damage to the first target in line therefore less to anyone behind it):

It may not do as much damage to the first three inches of tissue, but it damn well does hit harder than the Deagle if you get a solid hit. As Valve didn't make the zombies multi-layer, 'if you get a solid hit' isn't something I can put into the script, but 'hits harder than the Deagle' is.

5.56x45mm, as fired by M16A2, Ruger Mini-14, SCAR-L, SG-552
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-u5Uk0ae4p4#t=2m25s (that'd stop a zombie)

9x19mm, as fired by the P220 and various Glocks:

#00 buckshot from 10 feet:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSEjgudMrc4#t=51s (note the spread at 10 feet!)

Shotgun slug from 10 feet:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftrCtOyLrmU#t=55s (note peak energy transfer)

Also: real-world inaccuracy. It's not a sniper weapon and you're not firing it 'prone supported.'

I'm not one to spray and pray, so the muzzle climb doesn't bother me in the least. I like the fact it acts more like an AK in real life. Good work!

Lots of people comment on the muzzle climb of this thing.
Yes, I know it climbs like a mad squirrel.
Here's Matt shooting up a safe:

See how much his 5.56x45mm AR15 kicks. See how much his 7.62x39mm AK kicks.
High bore axis, no recoil buffer and more energy in a slower and heavier bullet all mean more muzzle climb.
Of course, this mod makes it a one-hit killer even on Expert (at short range) so the obvious answer to that muzzle climb is not to spray 'n' pray.

That blue outline isn't a foregrip. That's the comms box on the wall by the door. I should have stood a bit further to the left to take that screenshot.

Wait, people actually like how foregrips look? Gee, thanks again Call of Duty.

5.45x39mm AK74 script:

Won't hit like an AK47, and won't hit the second zombie in line anything like as hard as an AK47, but it doesn't climb like one either.

Similar energy to a 20-gauge, and the AK design puts the barrel above the shooter's shoulder, not in front of it. Compare the profile above with the profile of M16, AR18, L85, Tavor or HK53.

Yes, it has. Known flaw of the real thing. Correct answer to this would be a working fire selector on all assault rifles and SMGs. Best you can do without that is to tap 'fire' rather than pressing. This thing's a one-hit killer of common infected even on Expert at short range, and on Advanced at any range, so single shots can do most of the work anyway.
Sableagle  [author] Sep 1, 2014 @ 11:06am
Yes, I did. It makes it a little harder to stick to single shots, rather more effective in ripping up tanks and chargers at short range and really prone to muzzle-climb, like really REALLY prone to muzzle climb. Very effective, but without the gyro-stabiliser that comes free with every laser sight it should be used with quick taps on the fire key unless you're really, really close to something really, really big. Then again, it's an AK with over 2.1kJ of muzzle energy, so a quick tap on the fire key is enough for most targets anyway.

Why, lookidat, you implemented the 600RPM fire rate! Sweet!

Thanks.
