Description
The Lost Forest is a no-rush or "Michi"-style map. Each player is enclosed within a thick forest. Each player starts with a pair of Siege Onagers that they can use to cut pathways through the trees. Within the forest are many clearings containing extra resources and animals. Of course, you may instead stumble upon one of the many surprises lurking in the forest...

There are many bonus random factors that can occur. There are 6 different kinds of forests that you may find yourself in - African, Alpine, Spring, Autumn, Jungle, and Desert Island. Each has its own different terrain and animal population. There are also many different types of water distributions that can occur, including lakes, ponds, and rivers. Keep an eye out for other additional surprises - you are not always the only inhabitant of the forest!

The key to winning is to control any routes you create through the forest, mass your units before rushing, and capture any bodies of water you come across. But be wary at all times - attacks can come from any direction in The Lost Forest!

About Random Maps:
Random Maps are different every time you play them; the script defines rules about the environment and units etc, and the game engine randomises the placement of terrain and units based upon these rules. It's a new experience every time!

To play this map:
1. Open the Single Player or Multi Player game lobby
2. Change Game to Random Map
3. Change Type to Custom
4. Change Map to The Lost Forest V3

V5 Update notes:
-Updated to work with The African Kingdoms expansion
-Added a new variation that features new African environments and animals
-Added significantly more variety to each map variation; new animals, new terrain, new eye-candy!
-Significantly improved code and added more comments for future map editors
-Significantly improved resource distribution - extra resources and animals will now appear in clearings correctly
-Fixed Island-style map glitch (occasionally would not spawn 50% of the island

V3 Update notes:
-Increased player starting area size
-Added Scout
-Removed Walls
[All of the above improve AI performance]
-Fixed some terrain being the wrong type
-Adjusted clearing size and quantity, particularly in how this is adjusted against water quantity
-Fixed tropical birds being around in Autumn!
-Further improved Relic spawning and distribution
-Further improved "surprises" in how reliably they spawn
-Added Deer and Wolves/Jaguar
-Removed Sheep/Turkeys as they do not spawn reliably within every base, resulting in unfair starts

V2 Update notes:
-Fixed relic distribution
-Fixed secret island
-Islands can now have rivers
-Other terrain fixes
-Streamlined code (using constants to replace large IF statements)
-Added four new "surprises"
-Added some new resource links to the source code

@Tuesday Taliban: Do you have the African Kingdoms expansion,and the Forgotten Empires Expansions? They are required to play this, becaise the script uses them.

Delta: Black Forest is a descriptor for the map type. The AI is supposed to use it to decide tactics, although I understand that the feature never really worked in the original game. I put it in there for luck.

Zombiexm - it should have updated automatically. I actually updated THIS workshop file, it just took a while to figure out how. That's why I removed the old files and removed the versioning. And yes - I updated the No Onager edition as well :)

I'm curious, is it possible for someone to create an AI specifically aimed at this map? Maybe make the AI use onagers and use more wood cutters, etc. I started looking at the AI files to maybe make one, but couldn't find the "Black Forest" AI type mentioned in your file.

Delta: Here you go. V4, just for you. I took the opportunity to fix some bugs and improve a few things. I'm probably going to do a V5 with better rivers as well. Hehe :D
