Simpler Fortify Crafting

Fortify Crafting effects are much less hassle and much better balanced with this mod. You'll never need an crafting set, just one item per skill. Also, you'll never have to go back-and-forth between Alchemy and Enchanting to make the absolute best gear.

IMPORTANT: Don't have Fortify Alchemy or Fortify Smithing gear equipped when you start or stop using this mod, or you'll break your alchemymod and smithingmod values. Also, if you use "I'm a Hero, Not a Businessman", put it below this in the load order.

The specific changes made by this mod are as follows:
- Fortify Alchemy and Fortify Smithing enchantments are twice as powerful but are non-stacking.
- The Alchemist perk grants a 25% bonus per rank (instead of 20%).
- The best crafted Fortify Crafting items are just as strong as the best generic Fortify Crafting items.
- Crafted Fortify Smithing potions are no longer far more powerful than generic Fortify Smithing potions.

This mod can also be found on Skyrim Nexus at

If you find any bugs or issues, please note them in the comments so I can promptly address them.

I think fifty percent would also be a good cap for fortify skills as well. No matter how many items you wore. Wizards should have to put points into magic, no freebees. There would be endless uses for caps of fifty percent in this game.

@Wizard: I intentionally made the top-quality Fortify bonus about +50% with this mod, whereas in vanilla Skyrim it's about +100%. That's because with this mod, you only have to obtain one item to get that optimal bonus instead of a set of four.

and i'm sure you know that a handmade alchemy set from enchanting goes above 100%

David, there is a flaw in your logic. if you went to the store and bought anything you could find at their best versions, the bonus to crafting is more than 50%. not a whole lot more, but i believe my one character found a total of +55% from stores and if i really wanted to my alchemy ring could have been better.

great mod for balancing power and managing Items in a cool way

With this mod, Fortify Crafting enchantments are twice as powerful, but having more than one of a given type doesn't have a cumulative effect. In other words, there's no benefit to having a full Fortify Smithing set--you get the same benefit from one Fortify Smithing piece (which is about twice as potent as it would be without this mod).

In other words, it sounds like it may be working as intended. Let me know if I'm misreading what you said.

Hey mate,

would you please explain me how to get a usage of this mod? I enchanted my whole armor with fortify alchemy (51% with potion) and fortify smithing but when i want to mix a fortifying drink i just get 51% + on this.

please help;

The screenshot was only meant to illustrate what a Necklace of Peerless Alchemy does with this mod enabled. (Without it, that item only provides a 25% bonus.) Let me know if I'm misunderstanding your comment, SubZero.

My potions arent 50% stronger at all.
