If you've forgotten to make a backup of Ellis' voice files, just open up your Steam games library, right click on Left 4 Dead 2, hit properties, click on the LOCAL FILES tab and hit the VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE... button.

NOTE: This will fix all of the files you have manually replaced for Left 4 Dead 2! Make sure to make a backup of those files. (Installed addons will not be affected)

I put the files into the mechanic folder but now there isn't any voice at all? :(

Sorry!

At what part of the tutorial did you get stuck at?

Also, if you search the workshop for "Purpleheart" (not "Purple Heart"), you'll find both versions which will replace Ellis and Rochelle

Doesn't Ellis look sort of like a mechanic?

Nick is the gambler, trust me

Isn't Ellis "gambler", not "mechanic"? :P

You forgot to remove Ellis' files before placing the modded files into the mechanic folder

... or you forgot to remove the files inside the left4dead2_dlc1\sound\player\survivor\voice\mechanic folder

Remember to always run the snd_rebuildaudiocache command after you've messed around with the voice files!

I installed the mod (as shown in the video), but I now hear BOTH Ellis's default audio and the modded audio. Did I do something incorrectly?
