Guide to FIX crashes

This is a quick guide on how to fix problems appearing in Poker Night 2.
Add me on Steam for questions or help.

Prolog

I created this guide based on my post in the forum (for more information check the notes)
I hope these Tipps will help you to fix your problems.
I'm trying my best to find fixes for problems just to let you play :D
So be pacient and wait for further fixes and tipps if it still crashes. :)

Steps to FIX crash

A quick guide/instruction how to prevent Poker Night 2 to crash when you start it.

1. Rightclick on Poker Night 2, choose "Properties"
2. Go on "Local Files"
3. Click on "Backup Game Files"
=> Now you should see the Poker Night 2 folder )**
4. Rightclick on PokerNight2.exe and choose properties
5. Go to "Compatibility" (Next to General)
=> Click on the Checkbox (Run this Programm with ...)
6. Choose Windows Vista*** as compatibility mode
7. Click on Apply
8. Start Poker Night 2

Also you might try this:
1.Go to the Poker Night 2 folder (just repeat the first 3 steps)
2.Rightclick at the .exe
3.Start as Admin
Note:
It's not working everytime or for everyone sometimes you have to do it once or twice maybe 30 times and in the worst case it won't work for you.It's still worth a try.

** If the folder doesn't appear check the notes for further informations

***Sometimes you have to try different modes [XP;Win 7; etc.] just try every mode.
=> If this error appears : "MSVCP100.dll missing" check the MSVCP section

MSVCP100.dll & dinput8.dll FIX

You may encounter these errors : "MSVCP100.dll is missing/not working" or "dinput8.dll is missing"

If so just download and run this :

To fix MSVCP100.dll issue :
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555

To fix dinput8.dll issue :
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?dinput8

It should fix the problem and let the game start properly.

"click anywhere to start"-issue FIX

To solve this problem download and run this:
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?dinput8

or just install it again (doesn't work always).

You can also try to start PokerNight2.exe as Admin by navigating to it's location
=>(check the note-section)

Theory ~ by Merlin486 :
The game might have a problem reading the memory 0x00627c56 & 0x0000002c.

Error messasage : The instruction at "0x00627c56" referenced memory at "0x0000002c". The memory could not be "read"

I do not know what this exactly means, so I can't tell you how to fix it.
We suppose it means that your computer is not compatible with the game so you would have to wait for an update with a fix or you just have to get a new driver.
We also recommend you to check this*:

* there is a repair tool (it costs 30$ to use it) but we don't know what it does so try it on your own risk.

Missing Items in TF2 issue

It can happen that you won't get the unlockable items when you start TF2 even if you got the Achievement.
Do not panic it can happen.(Even if it's kinda fustrating)
It happened to me too and all I did to get these back is restarting steam and start TF2.

I also have some theories how they CAN be fixed (can=not sure)

Theory 1 (do it again) :
1.Navigate to C:/User/*yourname*/documents/
2.delete the TellTaleGames folder
(WARNING: If you do this it will delete your save;you have to start over again)
3.Unlock again the Items that are missing
(Again it's just a theorie;It's your fault if you didn't read the Warning)

Note: No, you can not unlock Items you already unlocked and yes your achievements will remain

Theory 2 (Verify integrity of game files)
1. Rightclick on PokerNight 2
2. Go to Properties then on local files
3. click on "Verify integrity of game files"-button
4.Start TF2

Play another game while playing PN2 issue

I haven't found any fixes for this "Bug" yet.
But seriously, why would you fix that?
I mean you can play 2 games at the same time.
Like .. you can idle in TF2 and play Poker ._.

Corrupt File Problem

Did your game work before and now it won't work anymore?
During a PN2 Session it can happen that files get corrupted, this can happen in many ways :
- Changing values using third party applications (CheatEngine etc.)
- Updates
- Installation issues
- Manually meddling with the game's files

There is a simple, but drastic solution to it.

>>>This is again one of the last things you should consider if you already had a lot of playtime,
since it'll delete your safe file.<<<

What to do:

1. Find the games file directory located at : "\My Documents\Telltale Games\" .
2. Delete the "PokerNight2" folder
3. Verify your Game Cache in the library
4. Run the game again.

In this method you delete the save file, since most corruptions occur in that file.
Verifying the game chace will redownload everything important again.
Running the Game will then create a new safe file.

(!!! Your old safe file will be deleted !!!)

The MSVCP100.dll install link no longer works, what else can i do to install the file?

Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Telltale Games/Poker Night 2/ and delete prefs.prop.
Then Verify integrity of game files
Try going fullscreen again and it should work then

hey i recently picked up the game and i cant for the life of my cant get it started its a game i have always wanted to play but just cant get it started i know i am rather late to the party for this game but i bought it and am having problems none the less can i ask you guys for some help?

to add more details to potential issues for this game related to crashes.

unplug any Xbox/Ps bluetooth controller hub as it will sometimes fix a crash on startup
the game doesnt accept it. reboot may solve issues after unplugging ,reboot clears the usb system log from any such devices

crashes on startup can also be related to windows audio profile. makes sure your profile is set active and working on the speakers, the games minimal demands are heavely related to speech so an active audio profile is needed
(normally windows audio is automaticly set , for some machines theres an option to switch between audio devices ie. usb plug headsets and similar) make certain whichever audio device you want to use is active and actually produces sound

@Fb||Grandpa xX_TheIcyOre_Xx Did you try reinstalling and verifying the game? If you did and it still wont work try what is shown in : "click anywhere to start"-issue FIX"
P.S. This thread is relatively old so there might have been new updates ergo new glitches etc and I haven't been looking into them so if the error persists just add me and I'll see what I can do
