The Bard's Quest

Bards are seriously marginalized in vanilla Skyrim-- they have their own Faction and Headquarters, but unlike other archetypes don't possess a unique playstyle suited to their talents. That fact, combined with the presence of the (generally) useless Speechcraft Skill, lead me to design "The Bard's Quest."

This mod adds a special lute to the Bard's College in Solitude (in the lecture room). When picked up, activates "The Bard's Quest," and grants the PC a special power called "Bardic Persuasion." On use, unleashes an AoE which calms nearby enemies (those with hearing radius of the Bard's song, ~250 feet) and equips the player with the ability to engage hostile (humanoid) enemies in a dialogue. Dialogue options available vary based on the PC's Speechcraft Skill, and have different successful/unsuccessful outcomes.

Currently an ongoing WiP with the following goals:
-Add an additional tier of dialogue options at the 75+ Speechcraft Skill level for persuading Dragons (in their own tongue of course!)
-Add an NPC to the Bard's College who rewards players based on their number of successful persuasions.

I think it would be cool if you could make it so in training to become a bard you could have little performances and maybe play like a rhythem game or something. I dunno

Thanks for this; it's a nice addition to my travelling Bard PC. I already use the 'Become a Bard' mod with this char - i haven't noticed any incompatibilities yet (though my Speechcraft is still very low so i have yet to have any dialogue options after i have used Bardic Persuasion to calm enemies).

very nice idea but it not work in my game. it calms enemies but enemies were not count.

Is there any way to make the calming effect scale with your speechcraft skill, so that the power isn't completely game-breakingly OP?

DO NOT go to gbiesiada's link. It will install a program that will disable task manager, shut down your computer and generally break your computer.

There should be a quest where you protect the orcish bard from the dark brotherhood assassin onslaught, just for the sake of having an opposing quest. it, would, be, awesome!

Okay, why couln't I remember that name, the other mod is Become a Bard. You should check into making this mod compatible with it as it makes a new kind of lut, flute, and drum that are equipable and give a music playing "power".

Do like this. It would go well with my other bard mod I a\have and make that lute in my inventory worth more than just a free room for the night.

That's already been done by a mod. Just search bard and I'm certain you'll find it.
