When a mortal being dies under ordinary circumstances, their soul spills forth and leaks from Nirn into the dreamsleeve of Aetherius, where it will remain until a vessel needs filled. Here it will bask in a paradise of infinite raw magicka, not to see Mundus again until all former memories and experiences and traces of the previous holder have long since been scrubbed away.

Not so for you, Dovahkiin, for within the fragile mortal vessel that keeps you bound to the earth rests the soul of an ever-lasting Dragon.

Like the Dovah of old who are now awakening after all these years, you are an immortal child of Akatosh and can never truly die no matter how many times you are killed. Your soul can seek out a vessel on its own.

Being a progeny of Akatosh whose birth was foretold of in the Elder Scrolls, you are bound by an implicit pact with the Divines. Visit any shrine of the Nine Divines, and they will grant you a refuge where your soul may gather when it loses its way.

Be wary, however. Your soul can reach far across Skyrim in search of a new vessel, but your old vessel and its worldly belongings cannot. One who has journeyed far from home and temple halls would be wise to carry an Amulet of Arkay with them, for his domain is that of life and death, and his blessings will protect you accordingly.

Any time you pray at any wayshrine of the Nine Divines, your spawn point will move to that one. If you have any Amulets of Arkay, you can use the "Prayer of Sacrifice" spell to break one of your amulets and set your spawn point to wherever you're standing at the time.

You will lose everything except quest items whenever you die. You must go back to where you died and activate the pillar of light to get all your stuff back. If you die again before you're able to get back to your stuff then it's all gone, man. It's game over!

However, if you happen to be wearing an Amulet of Arkay at the moment of your death, you won't lose any items. The amulet will sacrifice itself to bring you to safety.

If you manage to die without ever having visited a wayshrine of the Nine then you'll end up at the very top of the Throat of the World, stumbling naked and confused out of the rip in time and probably into a blizzard.

Should something truly disastrous happen, type "coc oblivion" to access the hidden cell used for behind-the-scenes stuff. One of the chests in there will contain everything you've ever lost by dying, in case of emergencies such as losing a scripted item that another mod requires in order to function properly. Don't use this to cheat and get all your lost items back or else I'll be severely disappointed in you.

This cell also contains an extra Prayer of Sacrifice spell tome in case you weren't granted one when you installed the mod (or you were given one but you failed to use it before you lose it), as well as a button that gives you an Amulet of Arkay for testing purposes.

Currently, the mod may leave some things behind in your save when you uninstall it. You'll know this happened if you still fall to your knees instead of dying after the mod has been removed. For now, this can be fixed by doing the following:

- In the console, "setessential 7 0" should remove essential status on the player and let them die normally

- Then, if you have SKSE, "clearinvalidregistrations" in the console should kill the script that gets left behind and prevent any potential further issues.

Be sure to save your game after performing the above steps so that the fixes stay.

I'm having trouble in Apocrypha, but i've always had trouble with it :P I "died" in Apocrypha to try and get out of there, because i know that usually gets you thrown out of there, but this mod "overwrote" the Apocrypha mechanic, and i died losing all my items. So i had to do what i always do, and just coc out of there... I still don't know how to fix those stupid bugs with Apocrypha :(

Just one request: Can you make a version where we don't lose our stuff and have to get it back when we die? Everytime I go down, I just load last save for this very reason.

that's actually something I need to look into

Or is it just that this mod respawn time is very very very long?

I crash when I die as Werewolf. Maybe it's the fact that I have too many items? I modded my weight limit and stuff, is that a problem?

pretty cool. pretty cool indeed. now all we need is a way so that when you die and go back to your items, a corpse of your past self is there with all of the items, and the equipped ones still equipped. that would be purely epic. an maybe a misc quest with a marker at the body. yeah, i can see it now. GO MAKE THIS!
