LIVE STREAM PART 3 ! SHIP TOUR !!! Wednesday 26th 8PM GMT
Release date: September 2014
Captain your ship with your friends as your crew, fly across space and land on planets with the freedom to progress, explore and survive any way you wish!

Craft weapons, upgrades, items and even new ships as you explore the Stoddarian Sector.

The Stoddarian Sector Awaits...

Wayfarer: The Outer Reaches is a first person, free roaming, space sandbox game from Bright Sprite Games. Play as a Wayfarer within the Stoddarian Sector and experience a unique survival adventure.

Open World Sandbox
Board your ship and explore a vast sector of the Outer Reaches. Wander the systems in search of your destiny...Whether it be making your fortune as a space pilot or venturing across planets, all offer unique environments and diverse challenges. When and where you go is entirely up to you, who will you become?

Play Solo or Co-op
Captain your ship solo or enhance the experience by inviting your friends to become part of your crew. Work together to increase your chances of survival.

Land and Space Combat
Land and space combat is a vital part of the game, you will be battling a variety of creatures and humanoids that vary from planet to planet. Have your wits about you and make sure you have the right weapon for the job.

Take Command of your Ship
Sit in the cockpit seat and take full control of your ship or stroll around its many rooms and corridors. Get your friends to man the turrets or help with repairs during intense dog fights. Heal your team mates in the Medical Bay, cook a meal in the Living Quarters or work on repairs in the Engine Room. Lower the landing gear, open the Hangar Bay door and step straight out onto a planet's surface.

Play Your Own Way
You have the freedom to spend your time anyway you wish. Take on jobs, fight bandits, harvest minerals, claim bounties, explore the sector or craft new equipment.

How Long Can You Survive?
You will need to acquire, forage or hunt for food and water if you hope to stay alive. Obtaining the basics should always be a Wayfarer's first priority when venturing between distant worlds. Death should be avoided at all costs. The cloning process is an unpleasant experience and retrieving your items may be easier said than done.

Loot and Scavenge
Scour the sector in search of powerful, advanced technologies and component upgrades for your ship and equipment. Hunt for blueprints to craft new cutting-edge items and ships, or discover the unique properties hidden within rare crystals scattered across the sector.

Build Your Character
Watch your character develop around your play style, adapting to your actions in game through perks which offer advanced skills and abilities. You are not confined by classes or skill trees, you are rewarded for what you enjoy doing most.

I wanted to make a game just like this but more FTL-y but realised it was too ambitious. Glad to see a game like this being made! Looks amazing!

@BSG: I perfectly understand that. Hence the notion of helpers. For example, even the DCS World series has simplified flight dynamics and avionics for the people who just want to fly around. Still, it remains the most hardcore simulation engine one can come across of.
Can I hope Wayfarer is going to be at least similar to Frontier: First Encounters when it comes to the orbital and flight dynamics?

@Surveyor obviously there will be a skill in flying, enough to seperate the individual skill of a player above that of another. However it is important to understand that there will be some people who are not acustomed to varying flight mechanics, perhaps people that don't play many space games and it would be silly to isolate people and create frustration for them based off this princepal.

I agree, but it also depends on how the game is build. I'd love to see some more physics, but the devs will probably make the best decision.

Flying IS fun when there is actually some physics behind the game. Otherwise it doesn't worth much attention. But you can always make helpers for those who want Mario Kart style controls.

(Bargaining face)

Aww... but its SPACE.

@The flying controls will be relatively simple, we don't want to upset people by making it overly complicated and difficult to contorl, flying should be fun and intense not a chore :) so there will be a pre-defined up and down, but you are able to deactivate your stabalisers to achieve some additional menourverability.
DarknessHasRisen Mar 20 @ 6:41pm
Will there be a pre-defined "up" or "down", or will you have to do a lot of spinning around to align the ship correctly and land on bases?
