Description
Match and Magic is a puzzle role playing game. You will fight creatures with unique abilities, gain powerful spells and items, and complete challenging quests on your journey. You can use your special powers to control the direction that the gems fall in this match-3 game, which will be key in your survival and ability to complete several quests at once.

How it all started:

This project was originally born from a combination of factors. I played a good amount of puzzle quest which I really enjoyed and I watched my mom, wife, and daughter play bejeweled several times. I started to notice what they liked and didn't like about the game and then the idea for Match and Magic hit me.

After a few months I had a pretty good version of the game up and working but I didn't have any art. I searched for artists for a while. I thought it would be easy to get an artist but I couldn't be any more wrong. Eventually I stumbled upon a great set of artists an we started to put some real detail into game world.

We eventually started to let people play it and the feedback was pleasantly surprising. People of all ages groups really enjoyed playing the game. That really fueled and motivated us every day.

Why this game and why us?

With a card mechanism it allows us to expand in tons of ways. The cards also make it easy to go between the campaign world and the core combat/adventure mode. To provide a little hint the game board can scale to whatever amount of tiles that we choose. I've actually played a 500x500 tile game of bejeweled, talk about combos. There are just so many ways that I think people will be amazed at what we can come up with and deliver.

The team that is working on this is so passionate about this game. The artist is not just a guy drawing awesome cards, he's also providing input on gameplay because he wants to make it really fun for people. We know this sounds like everyone else but it's true. This project is all about the passion for making fun games in new ways.

What kind of cards are there?

Item cards - These cards will help the player survive battles and make them stronger. Examples are potions, swords, shields, elemental life, beastiary, and lockpicks to name a few.

Spell cards - These cards allow the player to manipulate the tiles and affect enemies. Examples are destroy tile, change tiles to other elements and freeze to name a few.

Adventure cards - These cards are essentially your quest or objective cards. The more you have in play the higher the risk and rewards. Examples are creatures with different abilities, witch, blacksmith, lost, collect quest to name a few.

Equipment cards - These are the goodies the remain persistent between games. They are extremely powerful and hard to earn.

The plan is after the release of the game that we will begin working on extra card packs that bring in way more items, spells, adventures, and equipment along with some new gameplay modes. We hope that we can make it on steam so we can continue along that path.

Shame that Jeff LaFlam, who's an active Steam gamer, is ignoring his own Greenlight page. This seems like a good game, but Madcoder doesn't appear to be working on it anymore. Taking a break?

Awesome job combining a puzzle game with quest, spells, loot and survival. Totally under-rated game. Addicting game.
