Wander to use CRYENGINE®
What does this mean for players

Current players would have noticed there was no new release last month. Partly that was because we had a few days off for New Years and the holidays but it was also because we're working on the new version. There is going to be a bit of delay before the first new release is out.

The new version of Wander will use a lot less memory, run on less hardware and be a lot more beautiful. The most important thing is that the new engine gives us tools to get thing done quickly, meaning we can add more content. The screenshot above is running faster and smoother that the previous version of Wander, while also looking very pretty. We've only just started and we've got a long way to go but it's going to be an amazing journey.

There is a downside to this. CRYENGINE has no Mac support. If you've got a Mac and have already purchased Wander and don't want to play on Windows or Linux, please contact us about getting a refund.

Press Reactions:

Conceptually, the whole thing almost strikes me as a greener, more freeform Journey. And so far, the first planet looks like it escaped from the explosions and dumbness factory in James Cameron’s brain with natural beauty full intact, so that’s promising. I want to explore!
- Nathan Grayson; Rock, Paper, Shotgun

The 64km-square world is full of landmarks to catch the eye and secrets to discover, all of it rendered in astonishing detail. I'm not usually the kind of gamer who gets all hot and heavy about graphics, but Wander really is beautiful to behold.
- Michael Irving, MMGN

Personally, I can’t wait to meet you all in creature form, this seems like it could be a wonderful experience!
- Chris Priestman, IndieStatik describing the alpha as beauteous.

I’m excited by the prospect of (peaceful collaborative multiplayer title) Wander, then, the game that finally, finally lets you be a tree. And also a griffin. And, naturally, a sea creature too.
- Tom Sykes, PC Gamer

So how does multiplayer work for this then?
tvard3 Mar 24 @ 2:08pm
what will it cost?!?! Free or $25?. And I saw the longer trailer and i saw only 3 races. I thought there were 5: The Tree, The Elf, The Griffin, The Aqua-Gecko Thingy, and The Thylacine/Tasmainian Tiger. So what gives?I saw a gameplay with only the three "main" races. Does that mean the other two wont be playable? I was really looking forward to thylacine.

Sharpnovoa, thanks for that! We're focusing our efforts on the store and community page and forget about this one sometimes!

release date needs to be updated.

i'm not complaining it wasn't met. doing that would reinforce this stupid notion that low-iq developers have that you shouldn't give a tentative release date.

but it needs to be updated here so we can actually know it's being developed.

I have a question regarding the website were you can purchase Wander. If I purchase wander, will I get a download or be sent a disk?
tvard3 Jan 29 @ 2:19pm
i think i will be getting the alpha soon its 25 dollars on their website eh maybe idk maybe. if not im hoping this will be free on steam because i dont want to wait to get this awesaome game only to find that i have to pay anyway
tvard3 Jan 29 @ 2:18pm
i think that this could be a really good game. i like games where you play as animallike creatures. considering there are three different playable ones (griffon, ussertuth da wader lizard, and TAZMAINIAN TIGER) i think this game is right for me. the only bad part will be having to trudge through being a tree and a little elf. one more question... are ALL the characters you play as female? ik the humanoidish ones are, but as with real animals, its hard to tell the other three. also butterflies maybe btw. BUDDERFLYZZ. dont believe me? watch the two guys talking at the convention on utoobe.
