Sure, go ahead.

Which update, the 2013-03-07 one? WTH, Valve? I read all the TF2 Update news on Steam (and occasionally on the Wiki), and oh boy there were a lot of updates and patches recently, but this change wasn't exactly made public!
Okay, the Wiki article on Stranges indeed mentions "Trading or using Gift Wrap on a Strange weapon will cause its counter to reset to zero and its prefix to reset to Strange. Using Gift Wrap will present a warning when attempting to use the Gift Wrap on a Strange weapon."
But the Discussion page to the article also mentions that indeed the change hasn't been made public. There's a link to a reddit article where it's implied: http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/19y9j0/wasnt_aware_they_fixed_it/
Can I enter your screenshot to the Wiki discussion as proof?

Yeah, the new update changed it.

Wait, what? "Scores on strange items will reset to 0 when wrapped." huh? But I thought the point of using gift wrap on stranges was specifically to prevent the counter(s) from resetting!?
To quote to the TF2 Wiki: "Gift wrapping a Strange weapon allows it to retain their rank upon trade." (Unless the "rank" in the strange's name remains, but the counter resets to 0, which would be even more confusing.)
