Aperture Valentine - The advanced chambers v1.3

This is part of the Valentine's day special COOP map created by LpFreaky, Zivi7, Mevious, Sicklebrick and me. Link to the main course:

Aperture Valentine

These are the chambers considered as slightly tougher than the rest and that we decided to release separately in order to keep a difficulty level that makes the main map enjoyable for everyone!

There are 2 main chambers mostly drowned in water and designed to make both players think and plan their movements...

In the first chamber both players are completely separated in 2 different areas; once you get through it, you'll join forces to face the 2nd chamber altogether.

All puzzles are focussed in portal placement and reuse of portals ratber than skill-based puzzles. It is intended to be challenging although not too hard.

Hope you enjoy it!

Feedback is much appreciated.

- Skybox by Komaock
- Levers system taken from an example by NocturnalGhost at TWP [forums.thinkingwithportals.com]

(for the rest of custom elements used in this map, credits and thanks visit the Aperture Valentine main course workshop place or the thread at Thinkingwithportals.com)

- v1.1: prevented using the wall_projector prop to solve the puzzle in chamber 2 (thanks zivi7). Added some more details, lighting changes, added areaportals to prevent watching the players' droppers falling hole through the skybox.

- v1.2: changed the layout for the final puzzle in 2nd chamber to force the intended solution ;D Added some more seconds to the column timer.

- v1.3: introduced some changes to prevent some unintended moves in 2nd chamber; hopefully now the intended solution is the only one possible :D

We spent at *least* 5 hours on this puzzle. Perfect all around and incredibly challenging. 10/10 would pull hair out again

Thank you for the wonderful puzzle. A great way to end my day. Thank you so much!

I never expected a valentine themed level to be so hard. We don't have a clue what to do. (One of us got to a small room where you can drop a Companion Cube into goo, no further)

Yes indeed, as usual it's a classic josepezdj test: an epic puzzle with wonderful art.

With regard to wgs' #1, you really need to keep an eye out for trapping issues. Good thing we're all aware now (and your Oxygen test for instance is idiot-proofed). As for #3, that was just a glitch me and my partner had (I'm pretty sure...).

Holy mother****ing ****balls! This one was really good and hard! Took a good few hours to complete! There were three things I don't know about:

1. First room: When redirecting the funnel to the laser catcher to open the exit, I think it is possible for orange to lose the laser, thus trapping blue.
2. Second room, first area: There are unlevel portal surfaces perfect for flinging. Was that intended?
3. Is permanent activation of the light bridge intended when you are one laser away from finishing the map?

Good job otherwise!

I can't do the 2nd room.

Awesome map! So fucking twisted...

Anyway, is there a video walkthrough or something?

I'm pretty sure we solved the first room by exploiting two boxes one on top of the other, like this:

I'm guessing there is a proper way to do that... And we'd like to know what it is :D

Not bad at all. A lot of teamwork thinking in the middle. Didn't need the laser near the exit to finish, apart from being a nice deadly decoration, so the last cube could have been a companion cube. Well done :)
