Railroad Maintenance Costs

Description
Maintenance costs for tracks, bridges and tunnels

This mod forces you to start small, and build your way up. When in vanilla you could just double track, high-speed catenary everything from day 1.
Finally you will have financial benefit of having single tracks.

This mod does not override any files and will propably work with all track mods too.

- Reduced low speed track maintenance cost
Standard track maintenance cost was way too high, especially early years.

Whoa, a pull request. Thanks :) I'll look into it.

Love this mod, but cost should not grow linear with speed but grow exponential. A track that offers twise the speed should be 4 times the maintenance cost. This will make low speed freight trains much more profitable. This could be achieved by raising the speed limit to the power of 2 and then multiply it to 0.025. I made a pull request at https://github.com/SHOTbyGUN/shotModsTransportFever/pull/1/commits/4645ed3ef71a7004cffa7dee0f20439bd6c7821b

ok, thanks for the answer. :)

@Robbedem speedlimit is in kilometers per hour and $ per meter, and I don't know, but I assume its monthly. Well optimized track usage should lead to track maintenance cost to be about quarter of train running costs. I just enabled this mod on many my old saves and made assumptions based on that.

@Shazen or did you mean tack building cost instead of maintenance costs? If so, check out my Expensive Tracks mod, which was designed to do exactly that. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1201545455

What unit did you use for speedlimit?
Is the maintenance cost per month?

@Shazen oh, just start the game at 1950 and then go see the tracks, mouse over standard and high-speed tracks to see the maintenance costs. The costs should look quite different for high-speed tracks. ;)

No, by sleepers I mean the railroad sleepers or ties/crossties depending from where you're from. The game has two types of tracks, standard (with wooden sleepers) and high speed (with concrete sleepers) and I'd like you to differentiate them by trippling the cost of the high speed track. That way the same length track with the same top speed would still cost a lot more in maintenance when built as high speed track. The player would have to strategically plan in advance whether it's worth the extra cost just for a little bit more top speed :)

@Shazen Bridge maintenance cost is based on Speedlimit so Iron 120kmh bridge upkeep should cost twice than Wooden 60kmh bridge. Did I guess right that by sleeper you meant bridge type?

Could you also please differentiate between wooden and concrete sleepers? A wooden sleeper costs around 1/3 of a concrete sleeper in real life. Since they make sense in the game (a track curve with concrete sleepers has higher max speeds than with wooden sleepers) it would be a great addition to the mod.
