Artizens is no longer a concept!
Artizens is an online co-op 2D action platformer for PC/Mac/Linux where players kill giant monsters for their materials and use them to create new gear by customizing how it works and drawing how it looks.

You can mix and match your gear to create a fully customized Artizen, trade what you've made with the community, learn new crafts to make more kinds of gear, and go on progressively harder missions against ever-changing intelligent monsters.

Currently on Kickstarter

  • Online Multiplayer - MMO hub town and 4 player co-op mission instances.
  • Skillful Combat - Equip synergistic gear, defend, evade, take aim, and hit the weak points.
  • Modify Your Gear - Add stackable, balanced pro/con mods to change how your gear works.
  • Draw Your Gear - Use your drawings or the community's to give yourself a unique look.
  • Expressive Character Building - Equip 6 armors and 6 weapons to create your Artizen.
  • Breakable Parts - Every part of you and monsters can be individually hit and broken.
  • Semi-random Missions - Randomized levels and monster stats will keep you on your toes.
  • Trading Post - You can buy and sell materials, drawings, and gear at the trading post.
  • Expansions - New missions, monsters, crafts, and mods will be released over time.

It's sort of the 'open-world' concept applied to your character.

Even in its infancy, it’s looking good, combining elements of Monster Hunter along with an infinitely customizable crafting system...

Seriously, this game looks incredible so far. You have the massive monster fights, the skill-based combat, and the harvesting aspect of the Monster Hunter series; the classic Mega Man mechanic of utilizing a defeated monster’s ability to craft a weapon of similar power; and the immense customization of Magic: The Gathering.

I mean, the players are realistic, the backgrounds painterly, and the monsters are a bit cartoony. The levels are.. dunno what. It just works.

This reminds me of "a valley without wind".
making the background, the monsters, and the characters in different styles gives the game it's charm.
