A short quest will lead you to a new obsidian armor set.
Start the quest by traveling to Markarth. A journal page can be found near Calcelmo (the Dwemer researcher).

The armor is based on the (hires) original Dwarven Armor, but with large metal parts replaced by Obsidian. The Armor is Light, with base armor rating very similar to Dragonscale armor.
The methods used to prepare the obsidian, making it usable as armor, has been lost together with the Dwemer. This means you will not be able to reproduce it (so it is unique), but the Dwemer should have left behind just enough prepared obsidian for you to upgrade it. Once.

A bug prevented me from updating the steam version so the latest version (with weapons) will have to be downloaded from Skyrim Nexus: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9958
*** Highly recommended (but unsubscribe here if you use the new version) ***

If you don't like the Nexus, here are direct downloads for the latest versions:
Texture replacement only: http://www.rognemedia.no/diverse/skyrim/Dwarven_texture_replacement.zip
Full mod: http://www.rognemedia.no/diverse/skyrim/Lost_Dwemer_Forge.zip
(Just unzip to your data directory. Delete files to uninstall.)

Fun fact:
* The model and texture files for malachite ("glass") is actually named "obsidian" in the game files. Bethesda likely considered adding obsidian to the game at some point!

The mod has been translated by other users (I have not tested them):

hey man, cool mod, i love the dwemer armor XD but could you fullfill me a little wish? a very simple request, a light dwemer armor without these giant shoulderpads, that would be cool. could you do that for me? you're awesome!

The armor is available on this steam download. If you want an update with some tweaks, a much larger and more interesting dungeon as well as weapons and ore, get the nexus version.

There's no heavy version (but you can change it in the editor if you want). You could also download just the dwarven armor retexture version to just change the appearance of dwarven (for the better imo.). :)

The arrows are quite powerful, and once you have used them they are gone. They are a very rare item. Ps: You can get a bunch of them on the shelf next to the lava (don't knock them down!)...

The obsidian ore vein is in the mine. Large open room with a rock with black veins in the middle of the room.

Srry to bug again but on the nexus can you make a heavy armor version?

How to you get more arrows? Is it once you use then there gone?

Ok I was using the nexus version. I can't seem to find the obsidian though :(

No, sorry. The method for creating this armor was lost with the Dwemer. ;)
But if you download the Nexus version with the larger dungeon + weapons, you get to mine more obsidian for improving it.

But feel free to add this feature yourself using the editor.
