Better Vanilla NPCs

Description
If you're like me, you like the vanilla game mostly just how it is. However I had this problem with the way the Jarl's Bodyguards were set. They were set at level 4... really level 4?! I decided to do something about that and make them all tougher, now maybe you'll think twice before messing with the Jarl or you may be in for some hurt. This includes the court wizards, but does not include the general guards. I also wasn't too happy with the way some of these Bodyguards looked.

The Jarl's Bodyguards are all of his/her personal unique housecarls and court wizards.

The changes I made are:

1. Changed the max level on ALL Bodyguards listed from level 4 to 60.
2. Improved the facial appearance of some Bodyguards, some were left alone (for now).
3. Changed the behavior of ALL Bodyguards set at Foolhardy to Brave.
4. Adjusted court wizards that were set at Help No One to Help Allies.

No DLC or other mods required for use.

***Update: Edited a few more NPCs' facial features, of course some more drastic than others. Cleaned up Falk Firebeard's face a little and discovered he had some gnarly scars on his face, and changed his eyes accordingly to match up with the scars that tell a story. Also gave him a beard more deserving of his name, now he looks like a seasoned right hand that's served at a king's side for a long time. (*Special Note*) I'm having computer problems with my gaming PC, and it's at the repair shop. I do intend to keep working on this mod and finishing it up.

****Recommended Mods: "Final Younger Characters" from the Nexus site is NOT required, however it does improve the appearance of characters in general and I recommend using it as it does not make the game un~vanilla friendly. For example, it removes the square shadows on the tip of the nose on nords and the excessive wrinkles on everyone in general. (Recommended for Vanilla Body users)

*!!!* =>Known Conflicts & Compatibilities: This mod will conflict with any mod that changes the behavior, stats, or appearance of edited NPCs listed above. This mod should be compatible with texture mods as long as they don't edit the listed NPCs directly. Your results may vary with various mods that alter the general shape of facial features away from vanilla, like "Calientes Female Body Mod CBBE" for example. This mod was created with the vanilla body users in mind.

~This mod is part of an ongoing project of making a line of vanilla body friendly mods for the vanilla body users. Although my mods may work with other unique body mods, I specifically designed my mods to be used with the vanilla bodies. If you're interested in seeing my other works please check out my collection that this mod is a part of. These mods include changes to Housecarls, Spouses, Bards, Jarls and now the Jarl's personal Bodyguards.

`Please read each mod's description before use.

i would just like to point out that falk firebeard is a steward, not a body guard.
aside from that note id like to say well done, do you have plans to improve
regular city guards?

I don't know the Creation kit but google does, so I know what I will be doing for a while, thanks for the quick reply and info.

@Archduke Stewart~ If you know how Creation Kit works though Stewart, an easier way to find out what's causing your issue is to go through all suspected mods and checking the generic guard NPCs in the actor list.
Sushi Cat  [author] Aug 18, 2013 @ 12:01am
@Archduke Stewart~ I don't touch the normal guards at all. I only edit what I have stated in the description, and that's all that it changes. They're even capped at level 60 and level scale with you.

By the second part of your question, doesn't seem you're familiar with how mods actually work. Your game will be fine if you unsub and remove the mod. Claiming this mod changes normal guards to OP player killers is false however, and can be verified by examining the normal guards in the creation kit with this mod set to active.

Just his housecarls and court wizards? I believe its all guards as this is the only mod I have that does anything to their stats and now my guards are op killing my heavly armoured warrior in 3 hits while even dragons can't do anything near that.
If I unsubscribe will it undo the changaes caused? I know a few mods that change their stats need something done to refresh it, if so I would like to test that this is the issue or not.

Also, this mod doesn't edit the generic guards around the Jarl, only his UNIQUE housecarls/wizards/generals within range of the Jarl. Typically only 1 or 2 persons in the Jarl's throne room area have been edited.

@Seagne~ I always thought the battle for Whiterun was disappointing, when I did that battle the battles were such a pushover fight it was like taking candy from a baby. If you're going to take on a city it SHOULD be challenging! I didn't make it impossible, far from it. It should just makes it a bit more challenging than default without making it overpowering. They don't start off right at level 60... it's MAX level 60, in no way should this be overpowered to the point you get slaughtered as they should be around your level in strength. Just fight with skill and intellect, and you should make it through ok, you are the Dragonborn afterall... you have shouts, they don't. Plus I don't think the wizards are present during those big battles, could be wrong it's been a long time.
Seagne Jan 25, 2013 @ 7:10pm
I think it's supposed to be like this so you don't get slaughtered if you take Whiterun with the Stormcloaks.
