Discworld (map)

A semi-accurate representation of Terry Pratchet's discworld, although the counterweight continent is a bit squashed.

The starting points available are as follows: Ankh-morpork, Krull, Uberwald, Al Khali (capital of Klatch), Borogravia (although this was moved slightly, so as to not be so close to Uberwald), Howondaland, Hunghung (Agatean empire capital) and Bugarup (Fourecks capital).

Note: You will need to install Whoward's Random Start position mod, else you will always start on the Howondaland starting hex. Download from, and simply put the file into your Documents, My Games, Sid Meier's Civilization 5, MODS, Random Start Position (will have to create this folder).

The map is designed to be played with 8 players, although it is a large map (default 10 players). There are no starting positions for city states, so you may want to play without them or they might steal all the good city spots.

Resources are fairly sparse, although each civilisation starts with a "legendary start".

@GNU there is a script you can donwload and then the steam workshop will work

Could you perhaps release this mod outside of steam workshop? We poor linux users can install mods but not download them from the workshop. :(

I like the map overall, but one of the most annoying things about it is the tiles surrounded by mountains that inevitably get filled with barbarian encampments that can't be eliminated without paratroopers. And because there's nowhere else to put the spawned barbarian units, they suddenly pop up in the middle of a civilization's territory every few turns, all game long. Filling in those holes would improve gameplay a lot.

Binary: the first few books had no map, but all the later books do.

And the reason was that he wanted to be able to cheat in his further books :P

Nice idea for a mod, but there was a reason Terry Pratchet never included a map in any of his Discworld books.

in my opinion this map is pretty unbalanced. the top 2 continents have the majority of the natural wonders and the top left one has a ton of luxury resources, much more than any other region. this might be intentional. idk just felt too unbalanced to me. i did however really enjoy the mountain ranges and the single tile passes through them. overall good job, just needs a couple quick fixes in my opinion.
