The Korean KAL Star League 2010 Season 1 Finals was held at Gimpo Airport in Seoul. To be specific, the hangar bay where Korean Air Headquarters’ planes are parked became the stage for the acclaimed StarCraft tournament broadcasted by channel OGN in South Korea. Featuring Korea’s best StarCraft players, the event introduced players in an epic fashion coming out from Airport lift trucks and one of Korean Air’s planes as shown in the video below. Since the StarCraft community in South Korea treats the game grandly, events such as these are commonplace in the country.

For starters, the LoL World Championship 2013 that sold out in an hour was held in the Staples Center Arena in California, home of the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers. The following year of the World Championships was held in Seoul’s World Cup (football) stadium.

The ESL One Dota2 tournaments have been set up in world-renowned stadiums. In 2014, ESL One Frankfurt was held in Commerzbank Arena (or Walstadion) in Germany, a sports stadium known for holding the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2006 FIFA World Cup that featured Germany’s football team. A few months later, ESL One organized another tournament in the same year at the world-famous Madison Square Garden in New York, home of the NBA team New York Knicks.

As the biggest Dota2 tournament, Valve’s The International 2014 happened in the multi-purpose Key Arena in Seattle, Washington. Before this event, the previous Internationals were held at Gamescon, Germany and Benaroya Hall, which is also in Seattle.
