Description
Worldy is a new mmo I'm developing.

It will be free to play as long as I can support it.

The game is pretty straight forward. There's a big open world that will operate similar to how nature operates. Animals will breed in the wild and look for food, plantlife will spawn throughout the world, bandit tribes and merchant tribes will grow and compete with the players, etc. The idea will be to survive, prosper, and then defeat everyone else until you control the map. This is the current plan, but this will most likely change based on the feedback I get from the testers.

Right now the public server isn't being used, but if enough people get interested in trying it out that will change. But the multiplayer is functional and looks pretty smooth. All the hard stuff seems to be out of the way, and all that's left is adding content and then remodeling the graphics to not look like stick figures =P.

Next to work on:
  • Make a demonstration video
  • Implement AI monsters/players
  • Ability to siege buildings
  • Target Panel
  • Inventory

Lol it's not a troll. But in all fairness, the graphics are placeholders for now. I don't plan to use a solid green background for the world, and stick figures as players =P. Once the game is playable, I'll revamp the graphics, do animations, etc. The combat system is functional now (although sieging buildings still needs to be added) and I'm currently working on the next hard part, AI monsters and people to interact with. Before that though I'll try to release a video to give everyone a better idea of how everything looks. Movements are fluid and have walking animations, and that's something that the screenshots aren't really showing so stay tuned.

as soon as I read MMO and looked at the screenshot I knew it was a troll post.

I really dig this idea. I will defenantly watch to see where this goes!

I thought that was the case. It's always the art and stuff that's the problem, especially for small or one-man projects.

I'll poke some people I know in your direction and see what they think. They might not want to get involved until the project's more developed though.

I could always use help creating graphics for everything. The programming side of things is easy enough for me to one man, at least for a project like this. I'm also open to suggestions.

Awesome. Is there any kind of assistance you'd be looking for, or are you aiming to 'one-man-band' this at the moment?

I was initially, but figured I'll just keep track of changed here. I'll post announcements whenever I make any decent changes. I've been busy the last two days for the most part but I have started working on the combat system.

Looks interesting. Are you blogging or otherwise logging your development progress elsewhere?

Well if the game gets popular enough, I'll host multiple worlds, probably with different parameters. Maybe some worlds will be small, have less resources, more competition, etc...and other worlds will be easier. Maybe some will be faster paced, and maybe others will be more like peaceful simulation worlds. It's still just a concept right now so it can head in any direction, and so whatever the most players suggest will most likely be made a reality eventually.

Same, I'm just a bit worried on what if the games are too long or too short?
