UPDATE:
This mod version is feature-complete. However, I have just released version 4.0 of this mod. The new version adds new spells for alteration, illusion, and restoration. I have also expanded the miscellaneous new spell into a full, unmarked quest. Get it here: LINK


This mod is focused on adding balanced spells to the world of Skyrim. Specifically, these new spells focus on filling a niche that the current spells do not address, while keeping everything balanced. So far, I have added sixteen new spells. All can be purchased from their respective College of Winterhold vendor (Faralda and Phinis Gestor) once you reach the necessary skill level. Two of the spells can be found in the Archmage's Quarters on a table. I have also created a lore-friendly backstory behind the new spells as explained in a letter on top of those spellbooks.

DESTRUCTION
1. Added an Improved Flames/Frostbite/Sparks spell similar to the Novice-level Flames/Frostbite/Sparks that does Adept-level damage/magika requirements. This creates a middle-tier short/midrange option for destruction spells, rather than only having projectile spells in the higher destruction tiers.

2. Added Expert-level Deadly Fireball/Ice Storm/Chain Lightning. These take a longer time than normal to charge up (1 extra second), but do more damage. The animation changes when it is ready to cast. This adds more diverse AOE damage options.

3. Added Master-level Intense Flame/Lightning/Frost Cloak. These last for 2 minutes rather than 1, and also give a 15 point boost to their respective resistance (30 point boost if you dual-cast).

CONJURATION
1. Added a "Conjure Boom Atronach" spell that creates an Unstable Flame Atronach that explodes on impact. This creates an AOE option for conjuration, but it is difficult to pull off due to the short amount of time the summon lasts and its very low health.

2. Added a "Conjure Lesser Dragon Priest" spell that summons a Master-level Lesser Dragon Priest for one minute. It is slightly weaker to a Dremora Lord in a straight-on fight, but it has range and a bunch of different spells. If you summon both a Dremora Lord and a Lesser Dragon Priest at the same time, it is a pretty effective duo.

3. Added a "Conjure Spirit Mage" spell that summons an Adept-level Spirit Mage for one minute. This spell adds diversity to the adept-level tier of spells. Frost Atronachs are basically melee tanks. This adds a ranged conjuration option that is about on par with a Frost Atronach.

4. Added Adept-level Summon Decoy spell. This creates a Decoy that has massive health, but does minimal damage. This creates more options for Conjuration, as now you can summon a tank against powerful enemies.

5. Added Adept-level Summon Bound Mystic Sword/Battle Axe spell. This creates a more powerful version of the summon Bound Sword/Battle Axe spell equivalent to Adept-level damage. I felt it was unbalanced that the bound weapon spells were so weak compared to the bound bow spell, so I made additional adept-level versions with adept-level damage.

MISCELLANEOUS
1. I added a mysterious new spell. It is balanced, and there are 2 spellbooks of this spell hidden in Blackreach. It has a little lore-friendly story attached. Have fun, and props to anyone that finds it!

Same place as every other spell in the mod. Go to the College of Winterhold and find the relevant vendor (Faralda in that case). I recommend that you get v4.0 though, as it has some extra spells.

Looks like the costs were a little high for that particular spell. I lowered it a bit, as you suggested.

Just a suggestion, the improved channel spells in the destruction tree (improved sparks etc) don't seem to be affected by the destruction perk to reduce adept level spells mana costs by half. They have a rather high mana cost. Either that or they have a really high mana cost without the perk.

Add an Alteration Expert Sleep spell and I am so all over this. Range:Touch, Duration:Targets Stamina. I really think this is missing amongst others.

Your character sounds like he is pretty high level with 100 in destruction. The Spirit Mage requires only 50 skill in conjuration. Just wait until the Lesser Dragon Priest at 90 skill. It uses expert-level spells and is considerably more powerful. :)

hey yo!

so daemon black thx for the links i checked those mods out. at reading they seems to be far too much changes for me, and the overall balance wouldn't quite be respected while balance is achieved in specific matters ^^ so i won't use em for now. the 33% on stagger is great but isn't coming alone too bad, there is way too much overpowered changes in the 'better magic' mod ^^ now for that swapping enchant / alchemy... yes the spells will cost heavy magicka now but hell you imagine 300% dmg enchanted gear? can't ^^ i'll stick with the reduc cost and stay at 80% max a self nerf i chose cause magic resist and physical dmg resist are capped around that value in the original game ^^

Now to you my good Freyzor! i'm happy to announce you have balance destruction spells! gratz on all the work it took, you achieved it nicely ^^ now under a destru potion my fireball does 77 dmg while improved flames does 57dmg/s, and deadly fireball 113 dmg. now any mage will have a set of damage dealing spells in the situations we met all leveling. gz mate ^^

since i don't have any point in 'one handed' perks, i can't really judge of bound sword, it seems good enough to me compared to merhunes' razor non tempered. so i think it's a gz too! ^^
