9th Dawn is Not Dead
Status Update
Description
Release date: ~1-2 months after greenlit!
*****************update***************** 07/11/12

Thank you so much for your comments and suggestions. We have included an older promitional video which demonstrates a few more features of the game. Please note that video was created a few months ago and a lot has improved since then. As a response to your comments, we can confirm that the following features will be available for the PC version:

- Dungeon mode with randomly generated dungeons
- Basic map editor with placeable dialogue and simple quests, import/export enabled
- More dungeons
- Gamepad Input (currently working great) with bindable hotkeys
- Improved GUI look
- Entities facing left/right depending on their current direction
- Possibly a few more that I have slipped my mind right now~

A word on Multiplayer- this game will not have multiplayer. Please take it as it is- it's not a multiplayer game, the same way it is not a racing game. As our first commerical release it was not feasible for a 3 man team to include networking capabilities and structure at this point. The engine was designed on a heavily single player structure. It would be easier to start from scratch than to add multiplayer to this game. However, the sequel to this game will have internet/lan optional multiplayer if this project is a success, as we are very confident with netcode.

Thank you for your interest we really appreciate your support

Are you a fan of oldschool RPGs, but crave the openness and exploration in modern games? If so, we at Valorware are dedicated to giving you just that! We are proud to present 9th Dawn, a game that's a blend of modern and traditional design and gameplay and sports the largest open world experience available today in a mobile RPG!

Explore the large island continent of Montelorne, a land far detached from the mainland, but filled with mystery, danger, and last but not least, adventure. You begin your journey in the small village of Agaria, but once you gain your bearings, you'll find yourself immersed in a world of its own.

Play as one of three of the traditional classes: The sturdy knight, skilled in the art of combat and possessing the ability to wield heavy armour and weapons; the nimble archer, capable of swiftly dispatching a foe from afar or up close with his daggers; the wise mage, master of the elements and capable of utilizing powerful magic spells and summoning abilities to obliterate the enemy.

Whether it's searching for hidden artifacts and treasure, helping the troubled Montelornians with the rising undead armies, or simply exploring the massive world and its many towns, dungeons, and forests, there is no shortage of fun for a bold adventurer to partake of!

9th Dawn is currently available for Android. This is the official PC version which uses DirectX and our own game engine. It has been optimized for PC and supports multiple screen resolutions, mouse/keyboard/gamepad input.

The PC release will feature both a campaign mode with a world designed by us with quests, dungeons, items, NPCs, and more, as well as a Dungeon Mode which provides you with a procedurally generated gameplay experience! The segment of the campaign mode is complete and is featured in the Android release of the game currently. Dungeon mode is still in it's basic stages and is under development.

This game offers a huge manually crafted seemless map, nice quests, plenty of dungeons and loads of secrets. Graphics are all original, with a particle engine for nice effects with fire/spells/status effects. It offers a beautiful original sound track composed and produced by our team member Tom Martin. We hope this sets us apart from many of the other retro-looking RPGs out in the market at the moment~ but most of all be just hope you enjoy it, because we had a lot of fun making it :)

awesome lookin game. not hatein on the dwarf fortress but that game is liabal to cause a brain anurisim, we live in this era of gamming our graphics should at leats meet this standard of gamming. @Scabs depending on a PvP game build is a lazy way to make a game. when a game can be great without that crutch, then it usually is a more memoralble one. I faved and uped.

As our first commercial release, we had to scale back the game and make it single player only in order to get it complete within a reasonable timescale. Our previous attempts have all been internet+LAN multiplayer. Unfortunately this engine is heavily designed for single player only, as it was designed for Android/iOS aswell as PC. If we receive enough success and interest from this project we will be able to put the time in to a heavily multiplayer sequel as we are fluent with netcode. Please support us as we are a small 3-man team with difficult self-funding ~ if this is a success there will be plenty more to come in the future, thank you!

If any thing this one blends in with the rest of the cheap retro RPG clones.

There are tons of retro RPGs on Greenlight, but this game stands out as having something unique to offer. Upvote.
