Description
This mod is compatible with both the Brave New World and the Gods and Kings expansions.

An edited down version of the mod which only includes religions which the official civs have a preference for (13 new religions) can be found here: Historical Religions Edit (BNW or GK). A version which includes all of my various denomination packs in a single download can be found here: Historical Religions Complete (BNW & GK).

~~~
This mod adds 51 additional historical (pre-modern and indigenous) religions and schisms to the base game. The religions are complete with icons, civlopedia entries, etc.
The individual leaders are also updated to choose their appropriate historical religion. A civ's in-game religious preference is, if applicable, listed in parenthesis after the religion in the list. This is merely their programmed preference and not any indication of where a religion originated. A civ may only have one preference.
~~~

Note:
- This mod requires either the Brave New World or the Gods and Kings expansions.
- Updates to the mod will most likely break saved games. Do not update unless you are ready to start a new game.

~~~
Modders, please see this link[forums.civfanatics.com] for instructions on how to include internal support for this mod within your civilization mods.
I played a game with this mod en after like half an hour I saved the game so I could play further the next day, but when I loaded the savegame, it didn't work properly. Every city had Budhism and had the American symbol, also I couldn't do anything with my own city. All the citys looked really weird and I had to delete thissavegame. This 'bug' happened every time I played with this mod. I hope someone could help me out with this problem because I really like this mod.
That sounds overly complicated, I'll see what I can do, thanks for replying.
Firaxis never allowed mods to be used in multiplayer by default. You'd need to either integrate the mod as part of the base game or as a fake DLC (in which case everyone involved needs to do the same thing) or use a workaround like Giant Multiplayer Robot and Advanced Setup Screen.
I'm probably doing something wrong, but how does one use this mod in an online multiplayer game? After subscribing and selecting the mod, only single player is available, I'm probably the only person having this dilemma as I've scoured the comments looking for help so I didn't have to write a comment.
Thanks in advance.
Oh, okay! Very cool, it sounds like you know a lot about this.
That's great though, now I can found Canaanism without feeling bad for using the wrong name. (Because yeah, it sounds way better.)
Thanks! Glad to hear you are enjoying the mod.
Like most ancient religions, there’s no standardized name. In regards to “canaanism”, the term has been used separately to refer to both the ancient religion and the modern movement (it’s also sort of a general catch-all for ancient Canaanite culture similar to the term Hellenism with ancient Greek culture). Wikipedia just tends to have a bias towards more recent events and once one editor decides to label something a specific way it tends to stick.
“Canaanism” also just works better in terms of the naming conventions of the game than “Canaanite Religion” :P
I was interested in what religion the Carthaginians would prefer, so I looked it up on Wikipedia. Wiki says Canaanism is a movement in 1949 - not to be confused with Canaanite religion.
The latter is what you want, I believe. If you are to be picky. Otherwise, splendid mod, much appreciated! :)
@Uebeltank™
Because like 90% of the other civs prefer Christianity. I assume he set it to Norse to provide some variety (while also not being completely historically inaccurate).
@撸狗亲Ma爆炸
Modern China is atheist, but the civ in game is not modern China
Uebeltank™ Mar 7 @ 10:36am
Why does Denmark prefer Norse religion? Christianity was adopted early into the rule of Bluetooth, who is the leader in this game.
Marcowz974 Feb 17 @ 11:36pm
If so, China does not tend to be any one of Taoism and Confucianism, and China is an atheist country...
Korea often plagiarism the traditional culture of China and Japan,and claim that those are South Korea's, East Asian common people generally hate korea. So I was angery when I saw this.
There is a Japan comic which has a classic lines, is very famous in East asia,"in the virtual of the story to find the true sense of the human mind has a problem".
Presumably, I might be the kind of person, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
