Description
This mod is compatible with both the Brave New World and the Gods and Kings expansions.

An edited down version of the mod which only includes religions which the official civs have a preference for (13 new religions) can be found here: Historical Religions Edit (BNW or GK). A version which includes all of my various denomination packs in a single download can be found here: Historical Religions Complete (BNW & GK).

This mod adds 51 additional historical (pre-modern and indigenous) religions and schisms to the base game. The religions are complete with icons, civlopedia entries, etc.

The individual leaders are also updated to choose their appropriate historical religion. A civ's in-game religious preference is, if applicable, listed in parenthesis after the religion in the list. This is merely their programmed preference and not any indication of where a religion originated. A civ may only have preference.

Note:
- This mod requires either the Brave New World or the Gods and Kings expansions.
- Updates to the mod will most likely break saved games. Do not update unless you are ready to start a new game.

That's a bug with the Steam workshop where it will refuse to download a mod even after you subscribe to it. Usually if you unsubscribe before starting a game and then resubscribe in-game from the mod menu it will trigger a download. Otherwise, if the Steam workshop continues to not work, you can manually download the file from the link at the bottom of the description and place that file in your mods folder (~/documents/my games/civ v/mods)/

Norse religion is already included in the mod.

The game religion system is only present in G&K and BNW which is why this mod requires either expansion.

@Raventh

I don't see adding atheism as a religion as making sense in the game since religions require building temples and collecting faith to function. I've thought about adding atheism as a seperate mechanic that worked alongside the religion mechanic, but that's not something that I have time to do anytime soon.
