(SITTARD, THE NETHERLANDS) June 18, 2013 – InterWave Studios announced today a dual Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight campaign that will run simultaneously for their upcoming DRM-free game Dark Matter.

Dark Matter is a Metroid-like, intense sci-fi side scrolling game that combines the twitch mechanics of a first person shooter with an adventure platformer.

Sinking teeth into juicy gameplay flesh

Development on Dark Matter proceeds at a fair clip, and we’re well into our first closed Beta testing phase. The game has assumed a shape that could be called final, if it weren’t for the numerous iterations that each component will undergo in the coming months.

The full Dark Matter experience is functional, if not complete or polished yet. We have finally reached that tipping point where more work goes into building the actual game experience than into building the infrastructure that supports that experience. Our change logs talk more and more about tweaks, refinements and new levels, and less about impressive new tech-y bits. That is a good thing.

Dark Matter is a 2.5D survival horror game set in a derelict spaceship besieged by a sinister alien presence, and infested with deadly parasites.

As the Ensign, explore haunted hallways and facilities, scavenge for parts and blueprints, expand your arsenal to six deadly weapons and freely customize each to fit your combat style against intelligent, reactive enemies.

Dark Matter aims to deliver a hard-hitting take of survival horror in deep space, with a heavy emphasis on tactical combat and exploration.

This is what I like to see. This is not some "Nintendo 8-bit pixelated side scroller clone", or other piece of retro monkey droppings that infests Greenlight these days. This game has got my YES vote, and also my respect. Hope it gets greenlit and released soon!
