Description
SONAR is a 2D Survival-Stealth game based on the visualization of your surroundings through sound. In SONAR, you have no sight. However, your Sonar ability allows you to “see” by generating and hearing sound. You must use Sonar and stealthy movement to evade your captors and escape the cave within which they have imprisoned you.

We originally developed SONAR as a student project at the University of Southern California, Interactive Media Division. We have posted SONAR on Steam Greenlight Concepts in order to gauge interest in developing a full-fledged game based on our prototype. You can download our prototype at the following address:

We hope you'll give it a chance and that you'll enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed making it. Thanks!

Games From Below  [author] Oct 31, 2012 @ 12:30pm
@ ad_hominem: Yes, we are aware that there is a similar game also called SONAR. We actually developed our game first, back in 2006 as a school project for the University of Southern California. You can find an early build of our game on our school website:

Thanks for your interest.

This looks like Dynamite Jack without the explosives and with worse graphics. Dynamite Jack was a great game, but this... The concept isn't terrible; it could be made into something fun. But seeing in "sonar" which really just looks like bad pixellated graphics - it just isn't visually appealing. Here is my suggestion: Play Dynamite Jack and get a few ideas for turning your so-so concept into something that might be interesting to play. I hope my criticisms haven't been too hard. This game has potential, but it has a long way to go before it will be interesting to play.

Ok, good initail concept but no depth to it. You need to make it something more than just simply a game of cat and mouse. Think about the idea being able to drop beacons that give of a fake signal or sea mines.

Are you aware of this other game called SONAR, with the exact same mechanics?

This game looks very good but need more mecanics, put traps other sonars or something to expand the game
