Be anyone you want to be. Choose from 21 different loadouts then get randomly thrown somewhere in the vast land of Skyrim. Will you end up in the royal court of Solitude's magnificent Blue Palace or will you end up at the bottom of a dark, dank, necromancer-infested mine shaft and have to fight your way up to the surface? With 463 starting locations (and more being added) you will never enter Skyrim the same way twice! What will your story be?

As seen on Start 2 Continue:

- Choose from 21 class starting kits each with it's own semi-random loadout
- Start in one of 463+ locations in Skyrim after character creation
- The Main Quest thread can be picked up by investigating rumors of dragons near Helgen
- Very light footprint ensures clean integration with the main quest and maximum compatibility with other mods
- Best used alongside Character Creation Overhaul

Random Alternate Start is compatible with virtually all other mods, except for other alternate start/quickstart mods.

Subscribe through Steam Workshop, download using Nexus Mod Manager, or download manually and copy all files in the 'Data' folder to Skyrim's 'Data' folder then enable the 'Random Alternate Start.esp' file. Random Alternate Start should be at or near the top of your load order to avoid any mod conflicts.

To uninstall this mod, simply disable the 'Random Alternate Start.esp' file and delete all the related files from Skyrim's 'Data' folder.

- If you run into Hadvar or Ralof they may bring up references to the dragon attack at Helgen as if you had been there. This will be corrected in the next release.
- If you experience crashing, hanged loading screens, continuous loading, or broken dialog for the Whiterun Gate Guard or Jarl Balgruuf you need to move the "Random Alternate Start.esp" to the bottom of your load order.
- Memory intensive hair mods can also cause crashes at character generation.

Hmm.. perhaps you have a graphics mod which replaces the gfx for certain armor items? my mods doesn't add any new graphics.

The helmet I'm thinking of was a spartan-style helm with a black mohawk-style crest. I'd never seen it in game before...

Thanks Landeraxe! I'm glad to hear it. The worn steel helmet uses the same graphics as the regular steel helmet, I only changed the name and the stats so you don't start off with overpowering gear.

Man, the Knight's worn steel helmet is awesome. Is there a way to get that same graphic for a craftable (or findable) steel helmet in the game?
BTW: this is my favorite mod of all time.

This is a really cool mod especially when you have to go through the first sequence multiple time so that you can save at the correct spot before you complete your character. Another reason why i like it it because you would have to put in a lot of work to finish this mod considering how many dungeons, camps and cities their are in skyrim which would give you multiple options on where you should put your next alternate spot.

Thank you for putting hard work into this mod so that it can work for people who want to use mods that will give you a fair start to the game so that you won't be stuck with stuff like a flame spell and no armor whatsoever

Shirster: Sure hope you figure it out cuz this mod has saved me countless hours.
From time to time I've had trouble such as yours and in every instance there was a conflict with a previously loaded mod. Turn all existing mods off except RAS (Random Alternate Start) to see if it works. Add old mods back on at a time....

Hey there, I've downloaded the mod, made sure it's checked and at the bottom of the load order, and have no mods conflicting with it as far as I can tell, however I can't seem to start the main storyline, I don't have any quest and have visited Riverwood and Helgen multiple times in hope that something would work, please help, thanks.
