Pros:
- Amazing gunplay and melee weapons
- Beautiful scenery and world-building
- Fun missions with enough variety to usually not make you bored
- Good banter between player characters and fellow gamers over voice and chat

Cons:
- Next to no weapon customization. Even a little would be welcome.
- Crafting system is doodoo
- Storytelling is not only nonexistant, but confusing and contradicting. You told me to come talk to you, so don't act surprised that I'm here. I also killed 500 heretics this week; I don't see how I'm untrustworhy and disposable.
- Gear store is doodoo and needs to rely less on RNG
- Many weapons are unbalanced and need tweaking
- No offline singleplayer atm

That's just some of this game's pros and cons. I could list more, but these are the ones that really mean the most to me. Is it worth buying? I absolutely think so, and I play it every week. However there are undeniable issues that need addressing and that buyers should be well aware of before purchasing.

Initially, this game had an infinite potential bestowed upon the devs from God himself. Finally, there was a quality American Civil War game where you could: conduct commander battles with other companies and commanders on a large scale, personal uniform customization that you can spend hours in mimicking your favorite unit or photograph, gun play which felt both fair and accurate for the setting, and the scale and support to create an immersive experience.

Unfortunately, the devs decided to instead squander this opportunity by instead pursuing developer-supported mods for time periods already captured perfectly in other games. They neglected to support their core fanbase and this killed the game. If you purchase this game, you will enter a multiplayer-only game with no other players.

The storyline is the absolute worst and bored the living daylights out of me (I found fallout three's story better than this). However, the combat is smooth and the graphics are nice. Just install a million mods and the pain of the storyline will be numbed pretty easily.

I started playing this game back when I was about three and milked it for the next several years of my life until the disk I played on got corrupted and I never saw the game again...

Years later I found this game here on Steam and bought the game and all of the memories came rushing back to me. Glorious battles and battlefield role plays, the sheer madness of the Knightfall mission, the satisfaction of playing on the Hoth and Geonosis maps, the quotes, the artstyles. I loved this game when I was a toddler and I still love it today.

Buy the game, it's good.

Forced Tikhar usage is stupid. Weapon combos and material hoarding make up for it though.

This game has been entrapped by the same condition which corrupts all high-realism historical multiplayer shooters: a fanbase which is too small to support it forever. Over the years, fans have been torn between devoting their time to Verdun or other popular historical titles, and that attrition only grew as new releases came out over time. Nowadays the game is mostly dead, and since this is a multiplayer-centric game, I simply cannot recommend it anymore.

Goodbye old friend, I'll never forget the many good memories you gave me in my formative years.

The rest is forgettable.

Ok so I'm bored and my previous review doesn't quite do the game justice so I'll be writing a full review to honour the game in a way that will truly be memorable and loving.

My hours invested in this game should be a testament to how much I love it. Warband is by far my most-played and most favourite game I possess on Steam, no, in my life so far. However, if my word isn't good enough for you I'll be doing and in-depth analysis of the game and what makes Warband not only a classic, but also a game that anyone of any age can come to and still have a spectacular time.

Singleplayer - Warband's singleplayer throws you into the fictional medieval world of Calradia, a once unified state under the Calradic Empire now fallen into destructive civil war, based loosely off of medieval Europe. The game starts you off with a mission that while easy and simple, teaches you how to work the singleplayer functions of combat, hiring troops, infiltrating hideouts, and travelling the world map. Then the game turns the player loose; having no storyline and allowing the player to carve their own destiny. The way that Warband's world functions is that it places you and your party on a world map that you traverse in real time (only pausing when you stop moving) and allows you to enter locations for real-time action. Some people found this too vague and lacked the motivation to continue to play but for me this was never the case. After the mission is over perhaps you want more money, then you would need to go do some quests for lords, guild masters and town elders. Maybe you want a piece of the massive battles and wars raging about Calradia; then you will need a band of mercenaries which need to be paid for and upgraded into an effective unit of fighting men. Maybe you want a hand in Calradia's economy; well get travelling buddy, because you need to find a viable trade route. Or maybe you want to be a no-good dirty outlaw who raids villages and steals from villager parties, you'll need a speedy party, good equipment, and enough wit to escape the wrath of the local lords. The biggest advantage of Warband is how you as the player choose to play it. Admittedly, the world map is kind of janky as far as economics, raiding and kingdom borders go. Some kingdoms may seize lands far away from their homeland, and villages may be raided constantly to the point that they are consistently poor and producing nearly nothing. However, this is offset by the player's ability to influence and change these problems and make Calradia a more senseable realm.

Combat - Battle and sieges allow the player to command large armies of men to charge, outmaneuver or simply overpower their opponent. Additionally, the player may charge face-first into combat personally and cut down much of the enemy himself with weapons of the player's choice (chosen beforehand ofc). If this is a battle and not a siege the player may fight mounted on a noble steed which allows for faster, and potentially safer combat. Overall, in spite of the occasional ai stupidity, Warband combat is butter smooth and upbeat enough to be simple to master, but not boring.

Multiplayer - Multiplayer for Warband function by hosting servers each on a different gamemode, that occurs only in real-time combat, such as Siege, Battle, or Deathmatch. Multiplayer allows you fast-paced action with a skilled (and totally loveable and not salty after years of waiting for Bannerlord) community. For the most part, multiplayer's appeal is in the challenge as beating another human being who has sunk hundreds of hours into the singpleplayer alike yourself, is far more rewarding than beating Warband's often silly ai.

Mods - Warband has one of the most diverse modding communities I've ever seen with tweak mods such as Diplomacy or total conversion mods such as Last Days of the Third Age (TLD). Overall, I've definitely logged far more hours into Warband's mods than the native game and I would recommend to anyone who isn't even thinking about buying Warband to look into the game's mods because that alone can hook them.

DLC - Warband also has two paid DLCs: Viking Conquest and Napoleonic Wars. Based off the successful community mod Bretynwalda(forgive my spelling if I'm wrong xd) Viking Conquest packs a brand new shader that immerses you into the dark and still untamed world of the British Isles, Fresia, Denmark and Norway during the Dark Ages. The DLC actually comes with a pretty challenging storyline should you choose to play and I found it a very entertaining combination of both myth and truth. However, once completing the storyline I did not pay further as Dark Age Europe isn't really my favourite time period. I would still recommend the DLC on the story alone, and goodness knows there is so much more content for the buyer to enjoy. Napoleonic Wars on the other hand is solely a multiplayer DLC based on the popular mod Mount and Musket. In this DLC you can re-enact the timeless battles of the Napeolonic era such as Waterloo, Borodino, Leipzig and more in epic line battles with HUNDREDS of other people. The community for this DLC in particular is still very much alive and servers still casually fill up, and many regiments still meet and fight regularly.

Graphics - Warband may appear dated from a modern perspective, but this is offset by smooth combat and graphics that do not age easily. Perhaps it is just me, but the graphics of Warband do not appear old at a glance, and when coupled with the combat are entirely ignorable. Overall the graphics are not on-par with that of modern games, no, but they are not an eyesore to look at.

These are my reasons thus far, maybe if I feel bored again I'll update it with more reasons to buy the game but not as of now. This is my love-letter to Warband as I move onto its legacy Bannerlord, and a message to the rest of the world as to the fun we had together.
