Overall

This game is honestly one the best, no... I'm sorry, THE BEST RTS game I have ever played. I liked this better than other games like dota and smite (though I am more of a historical strategy nerd) but I think that the mechanics of building buildings and being able to control of all of your units amazing. I would say that this game is a little overpriced, and that's why I got it during a sale.

DLC

I like the complete edition because playing as the native americans or the asians is very different from the way that you play the Europeans, yet I feel that each country is still pretty balanced. The campaign is actually very fun to play, too.

Age of Empires III versus Age of Empires II

Now, if you are trying to decide between AoE II or AoE III, I would recommended this game (AoE III) only if you haven't played AoE II before. I've heard that this game is different from AoE II in ways that the people who play AoE II don't like, but if you have never been exposed to AoE II before you will find that the pros outweigh the cons of playing this game because most people who like AoE II mostly like it out of nostalgia.

Conclusion

In the end, this game and Civilization V are the only games I play frequently on Steam. So, if you enjoy strategy games of historical themes, get this one of you like RTS or get Civilization V if you like turn-based games.

P.S. As for you AoE II fans, well just get AoE II because AoE III tends to disappoint the lot of you.
