First off I just want to say this game would have a better overall rating if people did two things.

1) Got into character. You're a hardened outcast on an unforgiving, icy and hostile excuse for an island. The game is not going to hold your hand or tell you how to play. You'll struggle. It'll be hard. That's an ongoing theme for this game. Don't buy if you're weak of heart.

2) Used Google (other search engines are available). There are a plethora of people who have posted negative reviews based on performance issues. I encountered a solitary hiccup that was easily fixed, and there is a host of info outh there for dealing with other issues. Not to mention the devs update the game on a bi-monthly/monthly basis. The bottom line is thzt this isn't No Man's Sky, the game works, just work with it.

On to the review: My pasty criminal scumbag by the name of WolfBait has yet to die. He has been bitten, stabbed, cursed bludgeoned, starved, frozen, poisoned and very nearly burnt alive by a grumpy dragon; but the poor bastard just won't die. How you might ask? He's not your average cutpurse. No, WolfBait is smart. He knows his enemies attack patterns, he brings plenty of healing for when he is sloppy and he balances his gear around mobility and DPS. He also runs away a lot. No one said he wasn't a coward. But when you play this game, you aren't a hero, you're the garbage society has tossed away, come to thrive in the dumpster. And I love every second of it. If you think you can make it, I recommend you give this game a try.
