Simple premise, but surprisingly in depth despite how simple it is. Lots of fun, good to pick up and play when you just want something to do.

Very good game, it was fun to explore the world and fight the enemies in it. The execution moves were brutal and very reminiscent of Blasphemous, as a lot of other people have mentioned.

I will say though, that there wasn't much need for variety in fighting things. Sure, there were guns, but since I was speccing into dexterity, between the limited (albeit extremely common) ammo and lower damage compared to my weapons, I never really bothered with those. I also never really bothered with spells or even really the stigma moves, because slashing things with my scythe was all I needed to win most fights. I'd have to go out of my way to actually use other things. Because of that, I didn't even get the achievement to parry 50 enemies until right at the end of the game, when I was wrapping up all the achievements. I also never really had a reason to use items apart from healing or nycrux gathering, so I had a huge stock of debuff reducing items (except the nightmare ones, I used those a lot) and items that applied status effects to my weapon.

The weapon selection is decent, although I went through about half of the game with my starting dagger because nothing I could find for dexterity was nearly as good until I got the blood sword, and that eventually got replaced by the scythe. All in all, I used about three different primary weapons the entire game.

Bosses were really thematic and I enjoyed them (Except for the starlight beast of illygarth, I hated that thing) though they got especially tanky the further you got into the game. It wasn't really an issue for me personally, but they do take a lot of hits to go down even with high level equipment, so keep that in mind.

One big gripe I have is the mapping system, though. I like to fully map out areas, but the map in this game reveals rooms as you cover them instead of revealing the entire room upon entering it. This is fine, but it makes for a lot of oddly-shaped rooms on the map because they were wide open and you couldn't reach the top half. Another thing I had a major issue with, and I honestly don't know why this was done, is the fact you can only have a limited number of specific map markers on screen at once. If I saw a treasure I couldn't reach yet, I'd mark it with the treasure icon and move on, but those add up, and eventually it gets to a point where you have to remove old ones to put down new ones, and there are a lot of items you will not be able to reach until later, so there's a lot of things to mark. I had to start marking things with the other marker types instead because I was out of treasure markers. I would like it if that restriction wasn't a thing.

All in all, very good game, with cool bosses, fun combat, and an interesting world to explore, but again, I would have liked it if there was a bit more of an incentive to use any of the other things in my arsenal other than my primary weapon.

I've played it a little bit. It's pretty good.

This game is absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ruthless. And I am on the easiest difficulty. This is the kind of game where you love it when you make progress and win, but absolutely hate it when you are stuck in a really hard room for 5 hours. But still, I really like it. If you like I wanna be the Guy and other Masochistic games, this is for you.

This game is basically Harvest Moon, but better in every possible way. It is a really amazing game and I'm glad I have it. A good friend of mine gifted it to me a while ago.
