There are two major reasons that I recommend this game to everyone I know. I will explain them to you now. Here we go. I’m gonna do it. It’s gonna be done.

~~ NUMBERS GO UP MONKEY BRAIN GO EE EE OO OO ~~
Roguelikes/lites can be very repetitive, that is within the nature of a perma-death game. It can often feel like a slog of spamming out damage within the earlier stages of a roguelike until you get a decent enough build to actually enjoy yourself. Gunfire mitigates this by allowing you to wreck everything at the start and slowly ramping up difficulty. You often blow through the first few stages and then get to a stage that's too hard and get clapped instantly, then you put some points in the skill tree and try again, getting even further the next time until eventually you can beat the game with ease. This lessens the amount of time you spend feeling under-powered. Also, many of the visual and audio feedback elements help make even simple enemy encounters really fun through great sound effects and visual design. Everything just FEELS really good in this game. Movement is smooth and responsive (except for the parkour areas but that I can forgive since they’re optional), enemies explode with numbers and coins when you defeat them, and each weapon has a unique way of satisfyingly annihilating everything in sight. Not to mention that there are “Challenge Events” within many of the stages that add varying effects to further break up the gameplay loop.

~~ ADDED 85 NEW FEATURES JUST CAUSE WE WANTED TO ~~
Gunfire Reborn has the most active development team I have ever seen for an early access title. I am generally skeptical because many developers shove their half baked unity game on steam, make a few thousand bucks from hopeful consumers, and then never update it again. Gunfire has had over 30 updates within it’s 11 months on steam. Many of which added major features. 3 new characters have been added with 2 more confirmed on the way. New bosses, weapons, and areas are added pretty often too. Many of the weapons and features I’ve come to know and love were not even added to the game until a few months ago. They also have a roadmap that they keep updated available in-game and on their twitter. I recommend checking that out to see what I'm talking about.

TL;DR - Feels good to play, active dev team.

I highly recommend that you buy this game, it's a steal at its current price. If you don’t enjoy the first hour of gameplay, you can always refund it. If you find yourself enjoying the gameplay but dying a lot, keep going, the game gets much easier as you progress and from there you can choose if you want to play at a higher difficulty or just keep destroying everything in Normal Mode. There is a ton of quality content in Gunfire and you can tell that a lot of time was spent making everything as enjoyable as possible.

I love this game and I hope more people give it a shot.

Actual no joke game of the year 10/10

The amount of love and care put into every aspect of this game is insane. It constantly presents you with interesting mechanics and environments without overusing any one idea or setting. The puzzles are simple but can be outlandish enough that you won't instantly understand what you have to do next. I could say much more but I don't really have to.

TL;DR - Buy the game, it's really good.
